Re: What Are You Listening To?
I bought Novus & Columbia Recordings of Henry Threadgill & Air on Mosaic last year and wasn't really in the mood for it due to circumstances close to home. I actually forgot I had it as it was just stored with my other three Mosiac CD sets (Sam Rivers, Art Farmer & Benny Golson Jazztet and Braxton). Over the weekend I was organizing some vinyl on a new shelf unit and thought I might put my Mosaic' CD sets along with the two Vinyl sets from Mosaic (Monk at the It Club and Clifford Brown). I looked at Threadgill and thought oh yes I bought that and meant to get back to it. The third and fourth jewel cases were still in their shrink wrap! Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to CDs five on the way to work this morning and will listen to the rest and revisit some of the first CDs over the next week or so.
Also playing:
So far 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 10.

Put my vote in for that new Steve Swallow ECM cover, too!

Duke Ellington - Far East Suite
Stray George Duke tracks, I don't own an album of his as leader.

I saw that group at the RegattaBar, seems like a million years ago now. Really simpatico bunch.
I'm embarrassed to say that I heard this album for the first time yesterday. I'm not sure what to think about it. There is a part of me that thinks this how a smartass bunch of kids from Berklee would update Booker T & The MGs, but maybe it's just Scofield letting out his inner funk monster. I just don't know.

Luís Lopes' Humanization 4tet - Live in Madison
A good listening session this morning, to get in the mood for finalizing the release prep of these two discs packed with stories of friendship and family ties, selecting excerpts for the website. I love these guys!
