Here's drummer Joey Baron playing on Fred Hersch's 1st recording, Horizons. Marc Johnson is the bassist.

Ra-Kalam Bob Moses on Jim Pepper
This is a very interesting video, with archival music and an interview with Bob Moses talking about the late saxophonist, Jim Pepper.

Joanne and Kathy are kayaking on the river. Lou is puttering around the property doing chores. City boy (me) is sitting in the air conditioned living room watching the video Ron posted in post #17.
Lou's 58 year old sister Nancy lives with him and Kathy. Sis, as we call her, suffers from Down Syndrome. She's a sweetie. As I was watching the video, she strolled by the couch and stopped dead in her tracks. She was mesmerized by Keith Jarrett. Couldn't take her eyes off the video all the while smiling. I asked her, "You like that music, Sis?" She replied, "Oh yeah!", which is her signature response when she is pleased. Warmed my heart.

Not sure how to categorize this one, but it was a lot of fun!

Re: Jazz Videos
Jimmie Cantiello, your post #131 really touched me. Thanks so much for sharing that experience with us. Isn't it amazing how music affects us?
Please try this one and see if "Sis" likes it.

From the mind and hands of a favorite drummer, Max Roach, come these wonderful videos, many featuring singer Abbey Lincoln.

Tom Storer's post about the recent Holland/Barron release prompted me to google them and this was one thing that came up.

When I tried to watch the Jeff Ballard video, this is what I saw instead.

Sorry about that, I didn't check that it was working but everything looked normal when I posted the video.
For what it's worth, the band does still rock!!

Re: Jazz Videos
I checked, and that YouTube poster had done the same thing with another video of his---all of them, I surmise. Yes, it's a load of crap, but the way he does that is actually kind of cool; he somehow causes the "Share" code to be changed after it's Pasted. I tried running the Share code through Tiny URL, but that didn't help.
Anyway, here's a shorter video of the Jeff Ballard Trio (with Lionel Loueke and Miguel Zenón), this one from the Montreal International Jazz Fest in June.
Edit: Except that for me, it soon buffers to the point of being unplayable (at every "resolution"). Can y'all get the whole thing to play?

Re: Jazz Videos
No problem, pig pen. I watched it on YouTube. I'm still puzzled as to why the "owner" felt it necessary to limit the viewing of that video. Strange.

Re: Jazz Videos
Man, Joey's sense of rhythmic independence is off the charts! I'd love to see what he could do with a bassist and drummer.
Thanks, pig pen.
