Man, there is some good listening at Smalls tonight! Tardo Hammer's group just finished their sets, and George Burton's group, featuring saxophonist Tim Warfield is about to take the stage. We met George Burton about a decade ago in Philadelphia when he subbed for an ailing pianist in a big band of at Chris' Jazz Cafe. He's a fine young player!

I'm not sure if this is a new release or what, I just downloaded it and it is a real joy to listen to. Ballard and Grenadier are more up front in the mix than in the previous two releases that I have from this trio so that was a treat.
