Jim Hall Died
His sound, like droplets in a pond.

Re: Jim Hall Died
I've been a fan of Jim Hall for decades, but hearing him perform in person was an amazing experience, transcending all of the records I'd heard previously. On a special night in 1989 in Seattle, at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, we had front row seats for his quartet, featuring Gil Goldstein - piano, Steve LaSpina -bass, and Terry Clarke - drums. We were seated, literally, about 4ft. away from the band. It was sublime. They were on tour, supporting the All Across The City CD which had just been released. Man, 25 years has flown by.
What a soft-spoken, gentle man. What a tremendous musical legacy he leaves behind.

R.I.P., Jim Hall~

I'm so glad I got a chance to see him (for the first time) this summer. RIP.

I loved seeing him with Sonny Rollins (about three months before they recorded "The Bridge"), Art Farmer, and numerous times with his own groups, including one with Chris Potter.

I saw him three times.
I love how he would turn his volume down and strum so the sound heard was acoustic.
That's a Sadowski Jim Hall model at the right of my avatar.

Re: Jim Hall Died
Thanks Ron!
My work computer threw me out of the site yesterday so I couldn't comment...
I was lucky. I got to hear Jim many times, and to know him and Jane. And Devra.
This is such sad news. His music thankfully remains for us to enjoy for decades to come.
