I haven't had any luck with those either. And I've tried a variety of combinations. Need to do some homework on that.

Perhaps. And thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt, Scott. I tend to attribute my difficulties to chronic boneheaditis.

Thanks Rita for the instructions. I'll try again. Here goes>

This is Khaya Cohen, a 15 (or maybe now 16?) year old kid I know who I predict is soon to be a major artist. She's already a serious talent. I know her from my volunteer work for Musicians on Call. I have info from the net (Khaya didn't spill) that she has made it far this season on the TV show X-Factor (which her friends convinced her to send an audition video into as a joke) and hasn't been eliminated yet. In a way, I think a pop oriented singing competition is actually not the best forum for her talents, as her best singing is not simple pop stuff AND because she is already a very impressive songwriter. I think this video (which I have posted before, maybe on JC and not here) shows how talented she is.

A crisis averted. :whew:

You're welcome, Steve.

The instructions that you saw before probably came from the Sticky thread at the top of the Alley---

And you'd posted that video on this board, in Shamelessly Brag About Your Kid(s); see #5 through #9.

The Shameless Khaya Cohen Promotion Thread.

Postby steve(thelil) » September 25th, 2013, 4:40 pm

My young 15 year old friend and fellow Musicians On Call Volunteer Khaya Cohen, blew to roof off the house on the X-Factor today. I found out on the net that she has made the live finals show later in the season.

Anyway, this is a video of a song she wrote herself. I know I've posted it elsewhere, but I'm so proud of her and so excited for her. Besides being a giant talent, she's a great kid. In a way I think the X-Factor is beneath her because she's a serious songwriter and artist, not a little pop star type. However, to her credit, she did Nina Simone's "I put a Spell on You" on the show tonight.

My young friend and fellow Musicians on Call Volunteer Khaya Cohen KILLING it on last night's X-Factor. This kid is either 15 or has just turned 16. I am biased, but she's still amazing.

Sorry if this is an annoyance. I know I often don't respond when friends ask me to vote for something that sounds frivolous. And I get it if you don't vote.

But Khaya is is the nicest, classiest and most talented kid I've ever met. She just turned 16 and her resume as far as NON musical accomplishments and selfless volunteer work would blow you away. The first thing I ever knew about her was that she was flown to South Africa to meet with Nelson Mandela at age 11 after winning an essay contest with a piece about apartheid. And as you'll see from her video, she is an incredible musical talent.

So I feel I owe it to her to try to get out the vote. And then when she's widely considered an amazingly talented cross between Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, you'll get a kick out of it. Even though her friends convinced her to send in an audition video to X Factor, this is not a pop star type kid by any means. She had never even watched the (mostly evil) program or others of its ilk. She had no idea of the bullshit that would be involved .And her songwriting is up there with her amazing singing.

My young friend and fellow Musicians on Call Volunteer Khaya Cohen Killed it again last night on X Factor's British Invasion Night. Her arrangement of Let It Be might have been over the top, but this is a singing competition where the performers want to show their chops and Khaya's chops were crazy good. In like 6 live performances now, she hasn't sung an off note.

Here's her performance from last night

Every time I see her on X Factor I get blown away that this is the polite, soft spoken modest kid i know, who volunteered in the offices of Musicians on Call before volunteering in hospitals and didn't mention to anyone there that she sang! I'd appreciate it if people vote for her.
Here's how you can vote 50 times on one Facebook sign-in. It is easy, fast and free. You can vote a total of 50 times with a few clicks. And it's free. After you select who you want to vote for, you click until it registers the number of votes. Then You click "Confirm," wait for the next screen, Click "Confirm" again and then WAIT for the next screen where you plug in the code that proves that even though you're doing something as ridiculous as voting on X Factor that you are an actual human being!
