If a friend asks me not to post a group picture I've taken with him in it, I wouldn't. That said, I believe that it's as much as an imposition to tell a friend who takes a group photo that he can't do with it what he wants as it is to post a group picture without the express permission of everyone in the photo. Of course, there are legitimate reasons for asking someone not to post such a picture. But "I'm in it so it's my call"doesn't rise to that level.

to me it seems to depend a bit on the circumstances but I agree pictures of group eatings seem to be ok.

You should have just photoshopped him out. Put a big question mark instead of his head.

I got to see Pete in action on Saturday and talked to him for a bit. He was terrific. Unfortunately, no dinner.

If someone replaced my head with a question mark I'd fear that I'd still be recognizable.

Pizza Napoletana from Pizzeria Lauretano in Bethel, Ct. We enjoyed wood-fired brick oven pizza from a small joint that also offers live Jazz. I had a white pie with shrimp and sausage. Joanne and sister-in-law Maureen each had a prosciutto and arugula pie and bro-in-law Tommy had a sausage and pepper. All pies included fresh house-made mozzarella. Jazz for the evening was a quintet paying tribute to the great Thelonious Monk with a few vocals from a sweet female singer. A nice night of music and eats. A gem in the suburbs.

Ron, I ate at his "Campagne" last time I was in Seattle. I wondered where he was cooking now. Just wonderful food. And the rest looks quite appetizing, as well.

Since it's Monday, we're having red beans and rice in honor of the Big Easy.

Is Waldorf salad an acceptable compliment? No green in the house.

I opened my pantry this morning and saw a pound of Lucio Garofalo spaghetti that seemed to be crying out for some tomato sauce. So I jumped into the car and shot over to the supermarket. I grabbed a big chunk of pecorino romano, a 90oz. can of Cento San Marzano tomatoes and a pound of Italian sweet sausage. Thinly sliced garlic sweated out in extra virgin olive oil, the whole can of tomatoes and some browned sausage went into the sugo along with rosemary, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. About a half cup of dry vermouth rounded everything out. It's simmering as I write. Monday night pasta is in the offing.

Alan, I don't follow recipes. Seriously. The next time I make a red sauce for pasta it could very well contain sardines and black olives instead of sausage, for instance. I'm all about changing it up. Even when I actually read a recipe I never follow it as it's written because I usually never agree with the author. Improvisation, baby!

A true jazz maestro! That's how I cook Jimmy. I still remember asking my mom "what's for dinner?" and she would reply "an experiment". Mom could cook.

I ruined a BLT this morning.

Wrongly added lettuce and tomato.

Tonight is ziti with a red sauce made with San Marzano tomatoes, sliced sweet Italian sausage, a pound of 21/25 count shrimp, rosemary, oregano, garlic, s&p and a few tablespoons of pesto for good measure. The pesto sets it off nicely. Normally I don't use cheese for dishes that include seafood but in this case I'm breaking the rules because I'm certain that the sauce will benefit from the addition of a nice grating of pecorino - romano. Several thickly cut slices of ciabatta will definitely be on the table as well.

That sounds divine, Jimmy. I'm thinking that a glass of one of my favorite red wines, Malbec, would work nicely.

I wish I had the sauce. But I did some work on some Malbec last night and it did "work nicely."

Take a container of fresh salsa, which heat is up to you, cook it down to a thick consistency, toss in some halved medium shrimp for a short time. Transfer to soft tortillas, i get the 5" thin ones for this, with shredded manchego cheese. Saute for a few minutes. Absolutely delicious and very easy.
