Mets Almost Make Playoffs! (2013)
Mets Almost Make Playoffs! (2013)
I can't believe it!
The Mets almost made the playoffs this year!
With a record of 71-84, they are only 21 games out of first place and are in third place for the first time in years!
Things are looking good in Flushing.

If this is just a Met commiseration thread I'm terribly sorry for posting non Met info.
Manny Machado went down hard at first today in St. Petes.
I'm still watching my lowly Jays get beat every day.
I'm pulling for Oakland with their shit filled stadium and consistent playoff appearances.

Feel free to post non-Met info. It's too bad about the Jays. The Mets gave them (directly or indirectly) Reyes and Dickey. How'd they do this year?

Reyes twisted an ankle early but recovered well, great player. Dickey struggled with the long ball at the monstrosity we call a ball park but was good in the second half. The Jays were World Series favorites in April so you might say last winter was better than this summer.
The Mets have a good catching prospect in Travis D'Arnaud (sp?) who went in the Dickey trade.

A must-see for baseball fans.
One thing that really amazed me was the stroke of luck that got Wakefield started. Crazy.

Never heard of it. Thanks for the tip.
Another they play on TSN up here is Catching Hell, mainly about scapegoating, Bill Buckner and that guy from the Cub's game who cursed them for another 100 years. Bartman?

The Jays did have a good winter, didn't they?
D'Arnaud looks pretty good, from what I can tell.
On another note, the Mets are selling tickets for 9 bucks.
But they're finishing strong, going 7 and 3 in their last 10 games.

Even when teams are eliminated it's still a joy to watch.

I love this time of year.
Terrific performance by David Price and the Rays last night to make the playoffs.

Glad to hear it, but did Chris and Kevin make the wrong pick in invisible pixels or at some location elsewhere?

Re: Mets Almost Make Playoffs!
David Price's performance the other night was damned near flawless.
I'm also very happy for the Pirates and their legion of fans.
Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow night in Atlanta. Should be interesting. Sure wish Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp were healthy, though.

I think the Dodger pitching will be the difference.
