RIP a terrific musician, apparently was ill for some time

Sad news. I loved Ponder's style, elegant and funky at the same time.

I just played a fairly recent album of his on Spotify and really dug it.

He's a perfect fit on a number of organ bands.

I'll be playing Jimmy Ponder from a Charles Earland, CD opening up today's program at 10am, where Ponder takes a fantastic role playing the head along with the leader, plays great stuff comping all the other soloists, and rips a terrific solo of his own.
