More refugees?
More refugees?
The allaboutjazz boards haven't been working for me yesterday or today. Some of the links have been removed.

There's some good folks over there.
Re: More refugees?
Yes, it was a good place for musicians/music theory. I'm not sure if that's another "niche" that our hosts want to pursue.

Re: More refugees?
The thing about AAJ that has always bugged me [which I like as a terrific platform overall BTW] is that you'll never read a review for a new release that's anything but totally upbeat, complementary, and positive.....I mean NEVER.
I've stopped reading them quite a while ago, since I can't consider what they put up a trusted source.
Seriously, I've compared my own take on a more than a few that I've listened to and can't fathom some of the takes I've read.

That's something I checked out every day. If the AAJ forums are gone, so is a lot of interesting nuts and bolts music discussion.
Sad.
Re: More refugees?
Yes, the "reviews" were worthless. AAJ forums were really an advertising platform with discussion opportunities attached. Keeping that in mind and "don't believe the hype", it was a nice place to learn.

Well, it sounds like it's temporary: http://news.allaboutjazz.com/news.php?id=105682
Interesting (kind of) that this mainly commercial site (AAJ) is soliciting donations, while our non-commercial hosts here refused them. (I think that's a correct characterization of the forum genesis under Scott.)

Well, then, I'll says "thanks" to Justin too.
If you (Scott, Ron, Justin) ever need help with the website/forum, feel free to hit me up (other than the next three months or so, while I'm up to my elbows in really unbelievably ugly sh*t).
