Type the text that you want to link to. Highlight it. Click the URL button at the top of the posting area. You'll get this:

Now type an equals sign inside the opening URL code, then add the URL (address). The opening URL code will then look like this:

[url=http://www.doofus.com]

And the complete line will look like this:

Code: Select all

[url=http://www.doofus.com]This is the text I want to link to.[/url]

Try it with a real URL. It will be easy once you get the hang of it.

Hmmm, the only glitch is that there is no notification of the report.

Nor was there a notification to me that my "report had been dealt with," even though I checked the box to request that notification. (To me, that implies an automatic notification, but how would the software even know who I iz, regardless of whether I signed my name?)

Well, I was about to ask you whether there would be any downside to using that function to notify y'all about issues involving a single post, which seems as if it would be quicker for us than composing a PM to y'all. But I guess there is a downside, for now.

Yes! Sent at 1:25:57 PM (edit: that's Eastern time)--and it was an e-mail, not a PM, which I wasn't anticipating. I got one e-mail notification re my (first) report, not two.

And what about a notification to you that a report had been submitted? (Should we use this sucker or hold off?)

Edit: I just reported post #90 too, though I'm not sure whether you still wanted me to. It's the second post that I've reported.

Well, I guess we'll have to make a conscious effort to check for reports on a regular basis. Shouldn't be a big deal.

I'll also check the phpbb help site to see if there is something I can change to ensure notifications are sent when posts are reported.

But, aside from no notification on the back end, the system works fine.

Thanks, and thanks for the "who I iz" explanation. I for one will keep PMing about single-post issues until I know that you're getting notified of reports. I don't have the temperament to do otherwise. With PMs, I know that one of you will see a message soon; a lot of them have time value, or seem to.
