Shameless Self-Promotion

Have a paper in the new issue of the philosophy journal Abstracta. Third publication in the last three or four years. Kind of proud that I've been able to reinsert my (smelly old) self into the field after being pretty much out of it since the early 1980s. None of the three has gotten in easy, though. Each required a bunch of rewrites and at least one rejection someplace.

Anyhow, the goal is to get an adjunct position someplace so I'll have something to do with myself when I retire from my state regulator job in a few years. I figure these pubs will help my chances in Ph.D-rich Boston.

It's a great Nick Lowe composition, performed fast a la Rockpile (rather than Nick's slow, reggaefied solo version). I play all the parts (the drums are programmed)

My last two were sort of rockabilly crooners so I wanted to go for something with more of a loud Clash/Ramones guitar attack and some snarling vocals (with some Elvis C style cheezy organ). If you play it through cheap tinny laptop speakers your laptop will explode (not really) so I recommend (beg?) that you listen through earbuds, phones or better speakers.

Here's another cover of an old soul tune done sort of as a soul/rockabilly hybrid. As with my Prince cover (see posts above) I sung it much lower than original's high pitched vocal. This was the first hit by the Jackson 5, and probably their best. I perform all the parts.
