Hi Ralf. How did you find this place? From JC, I assume?
I tried googling jazztalk.net and as of yesterday noting came up so I guess it will be a little while before people might stumble across this place accidentally. It's fascinating to me that we have a couple of new members here already that don't seem to have been posting at JC. New blood is a great thing. Welcome.

A long way indeed. Glad you are here, Ralf. If you are from the pre-internet/pre-browser days of rec.music.bluenote, I am especially happy to have you around. Being from this era would make it unlikely that you're just another "young kid". We got enough kids in the playpen. We need some well-aged wisdom to offset all that youthful enthusiasm. (Only kidding. Sorta. For the most part, the people I'm seeing here so far I wouldn't call fresh off the "turnip truck".)

AHA!
I finally get to figure out how to use the ban function! [/quote]
Fuck you, too.
Two of us on the same BBS will probably result in monitoring by the NSA. No, wait...they're already doing that...

Just learning a little jazz piano, and I thought I might benefit from chatting with the jazz experts on this board.

I do grunt, but not nearly as well as Keith Jarrett.

Haha. Glad you came voluntarily. I wasn't yet fully comfortable with the idea of having to roofie you.

Re: Who I is.
Hi everyone. john williams or JBW at O. Thought I might give this new place a shot.
Thanks for those who set it up as I would have missed the personalities from JC.
I like others don't think FB works that well for discussion of any depth.

Welcome, John and everyone!
This is a new effort, but we're determined to at least give it a good shot and see what happens. We're encouraged by what we've seen thus far, and thank you for your support and contributions.
Please invite others to join us here in our new digs.

My name is Karen. I went by kedoane on the previous speakeasy board. I'm not going by that now since I am now divorced. I was a jazz DJ at KSJS but work and caregiving got in the way. Still working in TV land. I am doing some radio at KSJS, but instead of jazz, I am helping my friend, Dennis Terry, with his Friday Flashbacks show (airs Fridays 10AM-2PM Pacific Time). You will usually be hearing me between 11:30AM-2PM. Hopefully I won't be that much of a stranger.

The Jazz Cat!!
Always great to hear from you.
Dennis Terry is a blind person and one of the absolute oldies guru I've ever known. Has been doing radio in our San Jose area for decades!
