Farewell Peter Appleyard

Postby David Beckett » July 18th, 2013, 1:03 pm

This terrific Vibes player was made an officer of The Order Of Canada even though he was born in England. He lived and played in Toronto for much of his life. He toured in the 70's with Benny Goodman's sextet. He was a wonderful player.

We saw him in a duet with Terry Gibbs at the West Coast Jazz Party a few moons ago.

They were a riot.

One of the last things I watched on television before giving it up entirely was an Appleyard television broadcast with, I think, Zoot Sims and Slam Stewart. (mid 1970s)

Still remember that. (Maybe only because I don't have more recent TV memories to crowd it out/overwrite it.)
