Remember Jazz Central Station and Jazz Corner websites?
Jazz Central Station was like the wild west. DEEP schooling Conan Nado. The traditional jazz and smooth jazz devotees going at each other. Then the slightly more civilized Jazzcorner dot com emerged after the wild west ended. Any other interesting memories or colorful characters?

Re: Remember Jazz Central Station and Jazz Corner websites?
I remember both of those jazz boards well, though I discovered Jazz Central Station only a year or so before it ceased to be. What a wonderfully creative place ... way ahead of its time, a creation of the late Harris Wulfson back in the late 90s. When I could sense that the useful life of JCS was extremely limited due to some incredibly intense flame wars, I found Jazz Corner, in its infancy. I remember that it was very lonely there, and for quite some time, the two most active posters were me and my friend Canuck Don. I spread the word about JC, and slowly but surely, more and more posters found their way there.
DEEP not only tangled with Conan for a lengthy, ugly battle, he also took on Jazz Corner's owner/administrator Lois Gilbert and poster Patricia Dryburgh. Eventually, Conan split, and things toned down with the other two targets of Danny D'Imperio (aka DEEP). Much of those early exchanges were vile, but not without occasional humor, sometimes hysterically funny.
Some other notable, provocative posters were Chris Albertson, trombonist/composer Bob Brookmeyer and Stanley Crouch. Of course, any thread invoking the name Wynton Marsalis was sure to go off the rails in no time whatsoever.
When Lois Gilbert decided to suddenly discontinue Speakout (the Jazz Corner forum) in the summer of 2013, Scott Dolan and I joined forces and created Jazztalk.net with the considerable assistance and hard work of my son, Justin. Scott has since moved on, but Justin remains with me at the helm.
I've barely scratched the surface, but am sure that more will come to mind soon.
This rare 11" x 14" 1996 JCS BILLBOARD Magazine promotional ad is for sale on eBay right now.

What about the real musicians Doug Robinson and Lenny the Guitarist? Or Tanager, Bob Rimbaud, Lazarus, Dr. Dave, Cookie, Bill Barton, Goodspeak, Walto, BeBop,Uli, Tom Storer, hornblower, Gentle Giant, Frankiepop, Frankie Nardo, Patricia, and BFRank? Took about 15 minutes to remember those former members of JCS and Jazzcorner. Thanks for any info.

Re: Remember Jazz Central Station and Jazz Corner websites?
Don't know about Lennie, but Doug Robinson posts occasionally here as Jazzooo. There were other musicians posting at JC (and here), including Bob Brookmeyer, Dennis Gonzalez, Danny D'Imperio, Joe Carter, Ellery Eskelin, Mark Taylor and cookie, among others.
Many of the other names you've posted are active on Facebook, though some are using different names. A search should reveal some for you. BeBop,Uli, Tom Storer, lazarus, hornplayer, Gentle Giant, Patricia, Walto, Dr. Dave, Tanager and BFrank have also posted here at Jazztalk from time-to-time.
Hope this helps. Glad to see you here, harmony5219.

Does anybody remember the battles between Conan Nado and DEEP? Or Goodspeak versus multiple members?

Re: Remember Jazz Central Station and Jazz Corner websites?
I've used the same name at rec.music.bluenote, Jazz Central Station, Jazz Corner, the Blue Note bulletin boards, the Steve Hoffman forums (where I was banned before my first post), saxontheweb.com, Jazz West Coast Yahoo! Group, the Amazon jazz discussion forum and many other places. This makes it easy for my enemies to find me.
I do remember being overseas on 9/11/2001 and only having communication to Europe and the United States through the message boards. (No email, no phone.)
