Unless I missed it, I just realized that there was no baseball thread started this spring. So, better late than never.

Things are getting quite interesting in both leagues, but there was an announcement made two nights ago which really made me smile. Vin Scully is returning to announce Dodgers baseball again in 2015, his 66th year in that chair. What a remarkable man! He's an American treasure.

If you like Vin as much as I do, you might enjoy listening to his comments and reflections in the press conference linked below. He's as charming, humble & gracious as always. I love Vin Scully!

Unfortunately most of us in the L.A. area can't hear Vince because of the fucking cable channels.

The Halos and Dodger will both make the playoffs but the Halos have a tougher route to advance - A's and Tigers. The boys in bLue could go all the way to the Series.

Like the Cubs, the Mets are a joke. Never write the Yanks out, but the Bosox will not be anywhere after October.

Look for the White Sox to be in the picture next year.

Yesterday was one of the more eventful trade deadline days in quite some time!

Oakland is going for it now....hats off to them.
Unusual that so many front line every day players were moved around rather than prospects.

It has been the most exciting year in Toronto in a long time. We've got Lawrie, Encarnacion and Lind hurt and the replacements are getting it done. Marcus Stroman, rookie starter and Aaron Sanchez relieving for now look like the future. Big series with Baltimore at home next week.

I know it's happened before, but I couldn't believe the bizarre nature of one of the trade deadline actions Thursday ... a player being yanked in the 7th inning of a game because he had been traded. Austin Jackson was traded to Seattle ...

The Mets are the best team, ever. They are only five or six games under .500. This is a HUGE step in the direction of a world championship. The first of seven in a row!

Helluva game last night. I think the Dodgers used about eleventeen pitchers. I don't expect them to last through the first series.

I expect to see the Orioles and Nats in the W.S.

But ya never know. . .

Last night's Dodgers/Giants game was a good one, minus the lame chest thumping after Puig was hit on the ankle by a pitch. You're no less of a man if you acknowledge that you made a mistake and hit a batter due to loss of control. Bumgarner should have made a simple gesture to Puig which would have taken the edge off the situation ... immediately. Oh, and the mistake in center field between Puig and Kemp was also avoidable. Otherwise ...

Kershaw is on the mound tonight.

It's funny to look back on this years' predictions and see how few people gave the Giants a chance to go all the way, let alone in the post-season at ALL.

2016, anyone?

When you think how [relatively] soon the team goes back into winter/spring training for the winning club, it's tough to regroup for back to back runs.

Mind you in the age of free agency tough to field the same or similar squad, which has been the key to Giants success having been able to retain core daily players and bull pen as well.

Can't off hand recall a Series winner with such a weak starting staff, which was formerly a strength.
Told my daughter the other day starters had been boiled down to Bumgarner followed by prayer

Total unsung hero in post season [except WS game 6] was Petite......saved the season in long relief.
