Thanks Rita and Ron for posting notice of my concert series.
This is the fourth year of the crow with no mouth concert series; in 2011/12, I paid out-of-pocket to bring musicians to the Twin Cities who generally passed on coming here due to the lack of infrastructure for the music (an informed curator, suitable venue, core audience, etc.).
In 2013/4 I applied for, and received, funding from a states art board.
I began an online conversation with Dennis on Jazz Corner in June 2004, as did so many who visited his "Ask Dennis Gonzalez" thread; in 2005 we took up an email exchange that I edited into a 17,000 word interview/dialogue and published on the online jazz journal One Final Note (found here
http://www.onefinalnote.com/features/20 ... /index.asp). In 2007 my wife and I drove to Chicago and surprised Dennis at his performance at the Renaissance Society with his sons Aaron and Stefan, a trio known as Yells At Eels, still performing in their 14th year. So there's some history, and a sense of inevitability, with the maestro.
Again, thanks to Fadda T. Peppercorn for alerting me to this bbs; we have somehow remained in touch and, from a distance, mutual supporters of our unfolding lives.
Speaking of that, I met Pete C. in Brooklyn last October, for noshing and a Warren Smith gig at Roulette. He is, in the flesh, precisely how I imagined him to be when we first talked breaking bread a decade ago. In short, diminutive, bald and erudite.
