His family was so interesting and talented. I once briefly considered writing a book about them.
RIP

I was introduced to Pete Seeger by my college roommate, Alex, who had met him at a concert appearance on the east coast before coming to Alaska.
This is the 1st wonderful song I heard featuring Pete. My wife & I still sing this at times, especially the final lines of certain verses.

And just for the record (so to speak), his friend Malvina Reynolds wrote "Little Boxes."
Thanks for starting this thread, Ron. walto wrote:His family was so interesting and talented. I once briefly considered writing a book about them.
Yes, and their circle included the Lomaxes, Elizabeth Cotten, and so on. Maybe you'd revisit the idea of writing a book?
I really miss Mike Seeger, Pete's half-brother, whom I saw perform in various configurations over the years; he died in 2009 at the age of 75, which seemed way too soon.

It was bittersweet to start this thread, but I'm glad to honor Pete's significant contributions to music and the world at large.
Yes, I was aware that Malvina Reynolds wrote
Little Boxes.

It'd be much harder now, without Pete or Mike to talk to. I mostly wanted stories about Ruth, of whom I'm a great admirer.

YW, walto. I added this graphic culled from stuff on Peggy's About My Family page; isn't the quote that's highlighted in blue fantastic?

It's terrific, but...I don't see anything new in that post.

Oy. The same graphic appears in #9 and #11. I thought from the timestamps that you'd replied before I edited it into #9 and that you probably hadn't seen it there, so I repeated it in #11. If you still don't see it in #9, you will if you Refresh/Reload/clear your cache. But if you and others see it in at least one post, I'm content. Sorry for the confusion.
