Two very nice multimedia Jimmy Ponder tributes (there's also a link to the second one in the first one):
Jazz Guitarist Jimmy Ponder: 1946 - 2013 (at Fretboard Journal)
Guitarist Jimmy Ponder (1946-2013) (by a former student of his)
I wasn't familiar with him and didn't know we had the same hometown, Pittsburgh, PA.
R.I.P.

Sad news. I loved Ponder's style, elegant and funky at the same time.

He's a perfect fit on a number of organ bands.
I'll be playing Jimmy Ponder from a Charles Earland, CD opening up today's program at 10am, where Ponder takes a fantastic role playing the head along with the leader, plays great stuff comping all the other soloists, and rips a terrific solo of his own.
