Sad, sad news. Dave was a passionate musician, and far too young to leave us. He'll be sorely missed. Condolences to his family and legion of fans.
Latin jazz musician Dave Valentin dead at 64

THE BRONX - Legendary Latin jazz musician and Bronx native Dave Valentin died Wednesday, according to reports.
Valentin was born to Puerto Rican parents in the Bronx and learned percussion at an early age. He went on to play jazz flute and was mentored under Hurbert Laws.
"We've lost a legendary musician known throughout the world. A Latin Jazz Artist who made us all proud of him. R.I.P. Dave Valentin," South Bronx Rep. Jose E. Serrano said in a tweet Wednesday.
In March 2012, Valentin suffered from a stroke that left him partially paralyzed and unable to perform. He suffered a second stroke in 2015.
Valentin died at Throgs Neck Rehab & Care Facility Wednesday in the Bronx, according to reports. He was 64 years old.
