2 sets each night @ Cornelia Street Cafe

With Malaby on tenor and soprano saxophones, Michael Formanek on bass and Nasheet Waits on drums.

I'll be there on the 25th

Will be exciting to hear Formanek in place of William Parker who is the regular bassist in this wonderful trio.

Belatedly I have to say this was the best I've heard from the trio. Malaby focused and intense.

Nasheet Waits as powerful performance on drums as I have ever witnessed.

By the end of the second set, I was speechless. Like Elvin Jones cubed or squared. Beyond possible

An aside - at a recent trio show with John Hebert and Billy Mintz, Tony Malaby might have been even better. He's never played this well. Live in a small room there isn't another saxophonist I'd rather hear. He is playing the whole tenor. Full range. Long notes. Blistering intense passages. Ultra skronk.

Plus his soprano playing is better than ever as well
