Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival Set for Sept. 28
Free show to feature Meshell Ndegeocello, Christian Scott, more

The Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival, which describes itself as “Boston's biggest block party,” will return for its 13th year Sept. 28 from noon to 6 p.m. The free outdoor festival, which has drawn 80,000 attendees in the past, takes place on Columbus Avenue in Boston’s South End. The festival features three stages of live performances by over 15 artists.

Highlights are scheduled to include acclaimed singer Meshell Ndegeocello; the Will Calhoun Trio; and Robin McKelle the the Flytones.
Supported by an NEA Art Works grant, the festival, whose theme is Jazz: The Next Generation, will also include performances by trumpeter Christian Scott; the Mike Tucker Trio featuring vibraphonist Warren Wolf; and the Matt Savage Quartet featuring sax great Bobby Watson.
Student and faculty performers include Lawrence “Larry” Watson and the Workforce, Matt Jenson and the Liquid Revolution, Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors featuring Adam Cruz, the Berklee P-Funk Ensemble directed by Lenny Stallworth, and street performers Marcus Santos & Bloco AfroBrazil.
