You can still find threads and save them if you know the title, or certain things that went on in the threads. It's more cumbersome and time consuming, but doable. Just had to walk Walto through it the last couple of days.

Sorry, BT, but that URL doesn't take me to an archive. It defaults straight to the JazzCorner Home Page. At least, it does on Firefox, Opera and Chrome.

Not my link Ron. I was just qouting Steve T's post and just pointing out that even now you can still save individual threads.

This should work and go farther back then 2003.

P.S. When I was talking about it being more cumbersome and time consuming....I meant from the archive of the newer board. From the older board it's pretty simple since entire threads are in one page.

Just google Jazzcorner Archive. The first thing that should be listed is "Jazzcorner's Speakeasy Archive - Jazzcorner"

Right under that in green will be "speakeasy.jazzcorner.com/speakeasyarchive/index.php". Next to which will be a green downward arrow. Click on that and then click on the cached button.


To save any thread it's simple. No matter how many posts in the thread it's all going to be in one page.

Right click on page.
Click on "Save as"
File Name - Your going to have to put the threads name manually.
Save as type box - "Wepage, Html Only"

Rinse & Repeat

Sorry, I missed the double quote in that post. That's one feature I don't care for, frankly.

I'm interested in looking at the archives from more recent times (post 2003) first, to save some entire threads, if possible.

The archives from 2003 back are pretty straightforward to locate and look at, inasmuch as they were "formally" archived at the time the new software was introduced.

For the post 2003 from the newer board it's more cumbersome, time consuming, and really a pain the ass depending on the amount of pages involved for each thread.

First you're going to need the name of the thread to find it. You're also going to have to "save as" each page individually.


So once you find the thread.

Do the exact same as I mentioned above on how to use the caching through the green arrow.

Save page 1 of the thread using the method mentioned already above. I don't think you will need to manually put in the name for each page saved.

To save the rest of the pages. You're going to have to search for each individual page and go through the entire process for each page that you did for page 1. In Walto's case it was Frou-Frou Jazzcorner page 2, Frou-Frou Jazzcorner page 3....and so on.


You can then combine individual pdfs into one single pdf. Not knowing which version of adobe anyone has, or if they have ever done it...here is an idea of how it's done.

As an example: The thread Walto asked me about.

I just put into google Frou-Frou Jazzcorner

You then do what I said about caching and then you can save that page.

If you haven't saved anything post 2003 that you wanted to save....start doing it.

I tried to hunt down my post about Pops' theory on Martini....and the thread is no longer cacheable. I tested a few other threads and the same thing.

I think it's already too late. I noticed the following prompt last week on the Wayback Machine, and have been unable to access anything today using previously workable methods.

Caches have disappeared.

I would love to learn about any successful retrieval method.
