How Long Has It Been Since You've Eaten a Big Mac?

I used to like them. But I can't even remember the last time I ate one. Has to be 25 years.

It's been a very long time....easily longer then thelil.

In the post-MickeyD hamburger days, just the smell of the joint is BAD when passing by.

I still dig the occasional chili cheese dog from DQ, especially before the beach.

I don't know why Mickey D's burgers would have gotten worse. They get the meat from the same mule farms they always did.

I had one some time in the last year and it went down like a ton of bricks. I don't know what changed. I mean, they were never great but that one was truly awful, extremely greasy, very heavy, and the patty was practically invisible.

Here in Califas, there's really no reason to go there unless you just can't sit through the midnight drive-through queue at In-n-Out.

Not in 20 years. And not ever again. Sometimes I drive down Patton Avenue late at night, and there they all are, lined up and lit up like a bunch of two-dollar whores: McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Krispy Kreme, Taco Bell, KFC, and on and on. Every single one ready to kill us, one $1.99 special at a time.

I avoid McDonalds most of the time. Carls' Jr, on the other hand...I certainly don't go often but oddly enough, I had a Western Bacon Cheeseburger about a week ago, and happened to have a breakfast burrito just yesterday.

I personally find that all of the fast food joint's burgers are an affront to hamburgers. Wendy's and a few others used to make a passable burger but, at least around here, they seem to have sacrificed quality for turnaround speed at the drive-through window. I can't remember the last time I had a Big Mac but I do like McD's breakfast burritos.

Carl's Jr does have pretty decent burgers.

There's a very clean, large and classy fast food place I encountered in Florida called PDQ. The menu is kind of limited, based around chicken tenders, which are bigger, meatier and and better than you'd think. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich there made with chicken tenders that was absolutely delicious.

Haven't eaten anything from McDo in more than 25 years. They have to put something other than beef in those things. the last one I had made me really sick, and real hamburgers have never done that.

Had an In & Out burger a couple of years ago, and looking forward to another this summer. Occasionally will buy shrimp from Popeye's, but otherwise, none of that fast food here...
Life's short, drink well.

Can't remember the last time I've even been to a Macdonald's (spelling? ). There are way too many good local, non-chain joints that serve excellent burgers to be messing with that chain. I would assume there are an awful lot of kids running around those places as well. Btw, some of the best fries I ever tasted came from a Five Guys. They're cut on the spot from fresh potatoes. Crispy, salty and well done.

Fives Guys also has Greek joint sized fries servings.

I just at a Burger King Cheesy Whopper--a burger with a piece of fried cheese. Even better than it sounds. ;)

Never. If our parents were going to take us to eat fast food....it was going to be some better than McDolands and whatnot.

I get a certain strange craving for it every now and again. I haven't been able to fulfill that craving for some time, however, as I have spent the last 6 years living in what must be two of the only countries in the world that still don't have McDonald's: Kazakhstan and Nigeria.

When I am in the States, I have other cravings that come far before McDonald's.

Jan and I were in Paris once and my sister was there at the same time, staying with a family. They overheard her talking to us on the phone about meeting up in front of a McDonalds in the French Quarter - and were horrified. She explained that we were just meeting up there because we both knew exactly where it was and that we weren't going to eat there. They still disapproved.

It's a long list. In the States, I am usually on the East or West Coast. So fresh seafood might top the list. Add good fresh salad, authentic ethnic food of various types (Vietnamese, Thai, Mexican, etc.), barbecued ribs, and much more. I crave good hamburgers too, but that is a bit different than a McDonald's crave. :)

When I am in the States for a while, I can start to crave West African food as well.

I don't remember when I last ate a big mac but I do remember the one time in Paris when I had one because I could drink a beer with it.

I don't think they overcook their fries. I can't stand flacid fries. You must be from North Carolina, land of the half cooked french fry.

Not that I think anyone is lying, but the answers remind me of a joke some standup used to tell (I forgot who.Maybe Robert Wuhl). He'd ask the audience "Anybody here buy porn magazines?" When nobody raised their hand, he blurted. "Oh, I must buy all 24 billion copies sold each week"

My top 5 chains would be:

Shake Stack
In-N-Out
Umami Burger
Five Guys
Whatburger

P.S. For those that don't know....all five of them have a secret menu.
