I eat oatmeal every day.

I used to drink a lot of milk but I'm pretty sure I'm now lactose intolerant, so I've been avoiding cold cereals.

I have raisin bran a few times a year when I stay somewhere that has a free breakfast buffet and I'm trying to eat healthy.
But at various points in my life that i ate breakfast cereal regularly, I was aware of how tasty a bowl of cereal with ice cold milk (skim for me) and a banana could be. I want one now.

Almost never. Matter of fact, I rarely eat breakfast at all during the work week. But when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

3 or 4 times a week. One of my daughters has a bowl about twice a day.

Conclusion: my acquaintances are freaks. ;)

I've got some serious cereal-dependent friends. To some extent, I can understand - they're working 18-hour days, living out of a conference room and suitcase and the nearest grocery store - no time for a restaurant. I gravitate toward vegetables and fruits, but they aren't "comfort foods" for most people.

I eat a organic granola cereal/oatmeal 3-4 times a week with the rest of my breakfast.

At home in the U.S.

I used to eat cold cereal fairly regularly, but have been eating Greek Yogurt or an Oatmeal Breakfast Bar, instead.

My favorite cold cereals are Raisin Bran, Granola (especially with vanilla, & pecans or walnuts in the mix) and Muesli. We used to take Muesli camping with us when our children were young, and it got us off to a good start for the day. The down side of boxed Muesli is that it's quite expensive. The good thing is that it's very filling, so a little goes a long way.

There are lots of Muesli recipes out there, but I've developed my own recipe through trial and error. If you're interested in trying it, here it is:

Muesli ~

2 cups rolled oats
1 cup rolled barley
1 cup rolled rye or millet
½ cup diced dried apples or pears
½ cup golden raisins*
½ cup turbinado (raw) sugar
½ cup wheat or barley bran
½ cup wheat germ
¼ cup chopped or slivered almonds*
¼ cup sunflower kernels or pumpkin seeds

Makes 8 cups

Note: All ingredients can be found at a health food store or the natural foods section in your supermarket.

*I also substitute dried currants for raisins, chopped pecans for almonds, and usually add a few chopped, dried dates.

In a well-sealed container, this cereal will keep almost indefinitely.

Place in a bowl and add milk. Allow to soak for at least 5 mins. before eating.

Uh, Ron, not for nothing but maybe you should post that recipe on "The Recipe Thread". Just sayin'.

Duh. Thanks, Jimmy. :? Out of sight ... out of mind.

I'll leave it here for a while but add it there now.

I have cereal (and toast) almost every morning before work. Wheaties or Frosted Mini-Wheats.

That's my story too.

As far as cold cereals, I eat them every day in my imagination. A huge bowl of rice or corn chex with fresh blueberries. Captain Crunch, Cheerios, Wheaties with sliced banana, Rice Krispies. Before I knew I was lactose intolerant, my go-to munchie spaced out pig fest was one of the above.

Have you two tried Lactaid?

I prefer today's breakfast: fresh croissant, triple cream brie and a fresh peach.

No, I get soy milk or rice milk sometimes. It's not that there aren't various acceptable substitutes. The pleasure of drinking actual cold, creamy milk is irreplaceable. I still drink it on occasion, and it only seems to affect me adversely some times and depending on what else I ate.

You can try the Lactaid supplement.

I'm not much for soy milk, though I can handle it unsweetened. I prefer almond or rice. Coconut milk is tasty but healthwise... The grain-derived milks - oats, rye, quinoa, wheat - haven't inpressed me, but I haven't tried much.

Thick rolled oats soaked in water with blueberries, cinnamon, almonds and yogurt. Almost every single day. I would prefer scramble eggs, sausage and superbly prepared homefries, but I ain't gonna make 'em. I just woke up for Pete's sake.

I'd prefer that breakfast, too. It's not like it can't be done, I'm just too lazy to drive five minutes to the City Bakery branch over on Charlotte St. for a fresh croissant or baguette. We did have some Bleu d'Auvergne last night, I can't remember whose. Anyway, for breakfast I mostly eat All Bran with some kinda fruit. What Louis was to Swiss Kriss, I aspire to be for All Bran. Wouldn't that be sweet, get fucking Kellog's to pay me to promote the stuff. I could pay theLil to write me a promotional jingle.

All Branly yours,
