How often do you eat pizza?

When I'm in my home base of NYC, I must eat pizza on the average of 4 times a week. Usually it's just a slice for lunch. I rarely am NOT in the mood for a slice for lunch. I would have it even more than 4 times a week if I didn't consciously decide to vary it.

It's been 36 years. They've actually been making vegetarian pizzas for a while (meaning vegetarian cheese, no yeast), but they never much interested me. Before that, I was a New Yorker, folded slice in hand...

I eat pizza about once every two weeks or so. Not because I want it that infrequently but because I actually do try to watch what I eat. Otherwise I'd eat it much more often. Unlike Steve, I rarely eat just one slice. That's just not enough for me. Eating one slice of pizza is like eating one potato chip. Matter of fact, I almost never eat less than a whole pie myself. Sometimes I help Joanne finish hers.

1. When I am too lazy to cook.
2. When we have some of our picky grandkids over.
3. Otherwise, I make my own.
All in all, probably 5-6 times a year.

I try to eat very little for breakfast and very little for lunch, because I can. So a single slice makes a great lunch. BTW this dietary plan usually backfires because i too often pig out in the evening from the combination of having eaten so little during the day and an herbal appetite stimulant.

I never thought about it, but I guess once, maybe twice a month. I like pizza, but I reserve it for those days when we're too lazy to drive to a restaurant to pick up food. There aren't many places that deliver, so pizza it is.
I wish I could say I order from some little local pizzeria, but all those in the vicinity suck. Shakey's doesn't deliver, so the go-to had been Pizza Hut for a while, but we recently found that the local Round Table delivery area expanded to my address now.

We like Round Table, unfortunately Pizzeria Ortica don't deliver.

True Confession —
Patti & I eat pizza for lunch once a week, on average. We always have a side salad, but dessert only once a month or so. We share a small pizza, and usually take some home to reheat. Stop laughing, Antonio!
We're spoiled by a pizzeria/pub nearby which is too good to ignore. Prices are reasonable, too. They offer handmade pizzas to order and a wonderful beer selection from their own brewery. They also offer some amazing soups, including their signature
Hungarian Mushroom Soup, which is a
killer! I've mentioned them before, on Jazz Corner ...
Moose's Tooth Pub & Pizzeria. We've gotten to know the managers and servers over the years, which makes the experience even more personal and enjoyable. There is almost always a wait, even though it's a fairly large space. It's worth it.
To see their menu, which includes a reasonable number of vegetarian offerings,
click below. Don't forget to peek at their beer list, too.
Moose's ToothNote:The name of the restaurant refers to a mountain feature near Mt. McKinley. Another nearby peak provides
the name for their brewery,
Broken Tooth Brewing.

Depends where I am. When in the UK maybe one a month. There are a couple good places.
Fish & chips is the replacement for pie/hot dog/hamburger/Italian beef. haha
There actually is a couple good hamburger places in the Big City....but if I getting on a train to go there....it's not for a hamburger. haha

WBGO even gets a mention on their rather austere website, BeBop.

As I've mentioned before, wherever I travel I try to check out the local pizza. The fact that there are so many regional styles of pizza in this country fascinates me. Even within the small state of Connecticut there are a few different styles depending on what area of the state you happen to be in at the tiime.
So I'm wondering if Scott had any St. Louis style pizza while visiting there recently or on a previous trip.

Toasted ravioli is what you want to get in St. Louis.
From what I understand Provel cheese is one of the features that makes St. Louis style pizza, well, St. Louis style pizza. So that's the way I would want it prepared. Anyway, it really doesn't matter if I like it or not. My goal is to sample as many regional styles as possible. However, I'm sure I'll find something I like about the style.
As for fried ravioli, I've actually made them at home. That's another St. Louis area food I will definitely try if I ever visit there.

Jimmy, were you at the JC hang when we went to Mario Battalli's Otto? I still remember the terrific pizzas and gelatos from that joint. I didn't have it, but some folks order the one with a thin layer of some sort of lightly melted fat. It looked delicious.
I honestly don't even remember the show afterwards. I think we might have split up into two groups going to different shows after the eats. Good fun.

Yeah, that was a good meal and a good night. There were about ten of us there. The pie you're thinking about had lardo on it. Lardo is cured pork fat. That's the one I had. Muy sabroso! I also had gelato topped with sea salt and extra virgin olive oil. Btw, Otto doesn't cook their pizzas in an oven. They cook them on a griddle. I've been back there a couple more times since then.

All this talk of pizza had me change my plans for dinner before last nights performance. I was planning to go to Big Star. It's a around a mile from The Hideout. If you want good tacos, beer, bourbon (they even have Pappy Van Winkle), tequila....@ great prices....this is the place in Chicago. Probably end up @ Big Star before the Friday show.
http://bigstarchicago.com/Anyway....ended up going to Piece...also around a mile away. Jimmy....best New Haven pies outside of New Haven. They also brew a good solid beer.
http://www.piecechicago.com/Scott: I only have been in St. Louis once during one of my road trips. The one pie I tasted was @ a place called Black Thorn Pub, but it was Chicago style. It was good. Have since met someone who is from St. Louis and claims a place called Pi is the place to go....but it's also Chicago style.

Maybe my buddy BT meant this only as a figure of speech - or meant the best New Haven pies HE'S had outside of New Haven - but I can't believe he's had sampled all of the good "New Haven pies outside of New Haven" so as to be qualified to make such a judgment.

Ron, I'm working 16-hour days in a windowless room in a cinderblock building, in an office park in Irvine, California. Your pictures are killing me.
Thanks!

Pretty sure that was understood.
Though, I try keeping an eye/ear out for a good place. Though, it's not like there are a lot of places that have a New Haven-style outside of CT.
New Haven is usually the mid-point stop for food between NYC and Boston on road trips. I prefer road trips over flying if I have the time.
My older brothers and sisters think I am nuts...even my twin sisters isn't on board. haha The younger one's keep wanting to come along. haha
Get to check out different places....listen to the tunes....if we want to hang out somewhere interesting you can....we want to go somewhere off the scheduled route... Hit up all kinds of restaurants/dinners/dives we would never have otherwise. Wife has more place to go shopping. I kid. haha
P.S. It was one of the places my twin sister and I were considering to matriculate too....but being able to go surfing on the weekends beat out Pepe's and being close to NYC. haha And it's not like the Bay Area is dead.
