What TV Shows Are You Watching?

Postby LennyH » June 27th, 2013, 5:09 pm

I have to admit that I'm have a bit of separation anxiety with Game of Thrones. Had a lot of fun with this season. Also loved the fact that that they ended this season with Calisi, like they did with season 1. She marches on...

NBA draft. Love how Stern gets loudly booed every single time he walks up to the podium. Weird that he'd want to do that every year, knowing the fans hate him.
Surely not all of a sudden. Less than half of a sudden at best.

Tonight, Burn Notice and Graceland. They aren't perfect, but they're enjoyable ... mostly.

USA swimming champs are this week. TdF starts tomorrow. Dance India Dance Super Moms (on ZeeTV, a Hindi-language channel) with the family. Keeping up with The Soup and, less frequently, The Daily Show. Wipeout and Phineas and Ferb while curled up with my son.

Just recently discovered Burn Notice and just finished watching the first season, lots of fun.

The 'Mad Men' season finale was a stunning cap to a great season. Season 5 had more of a short story feel in which each episode almost stood on its own. Season 6 was the story of a man's spiritual and psychological free fall. Jon Hamm's performance was amazing.

Been watching a lot of American Pickers...........sort of.

I find it's a great show to have on in the background when I'm on the computer and not really paying attention.

PS. "Good Background TV" might be a good thread in itself. I hereby assign all rights to starting it to whoever starts it.

I've been watching Fringe on Netflix. Well into the second season, I have no idea why I'm still watching this show. Maybe because I think the lead actress is cute. Each show is pretty much the same as the last.

I can't wait to watch it on DVD. I'm still being a purist and refuse to watch on TV because they still remove 2 minutes from each show, as far as I know, and restore it on DVD. People pretty much think I'm nuts when I tell them this.

Season 4 was my favorite. I liked season 5 but am glad to hear that this season seems to have been better.

It would take a rewatch for me to decide if I liked s6 or s5 more. My comments were more about the structure than the quality.

One thing I've found with MM viewers is the lack of consensus over what are its best episodes, seasons, scenes, story arcs, etc and why they are the best.

I love that show, and have been following it for quite some time. There's some really fine chemistry between the 3 characters and those they meet along America's roadways.

Excellent synopsis. I loved it too.

Just finished The Fall (Netflix streaming). Highly recommended.

Thanks, stone. I hadn't even heard of that. I saw Gillian Anderson on some Today show clip or whatever not long ago and can't believe how good she looked. Middle age looks good on her.

I also like the 3 main characters, although I think Mike overacts. What I really love about the show is seeing the amazing "collections" and the assortment of (sometimes odd) people who have acquired the stuff.

TdF and USA Swimming champs, both somewhat time-shifted. Will be heavy on the TdF for the next three weeks.

We're getting hooked on the BBC Sherlock Holmes series. Great casting.

It's very good.

I also like Elementary. I'm a sucker for those clever genius characters, and Holmes was obviously one of the most compelling.

I don't watch a lot of series TV, but I did watch the recent HANNIBAL thingy and thought it was pretty good. Elaborate and gory, but good.

I liked it too. I'm a fan of that Danish actor. Very surprising to me that CBS would produce such a gorefest.

Yeah, the actor whose name everyone looks up. He's great. The guy who played Will Graham was excellent, too, in my opinion. Of course, the show was wildly implausible in at least one regard: there was some new, spectacular homicide that was obviously the work of a psychopath every week and yet there was no general public alarm that Jack and Will and the team had to deal with. They quietly went about with their profiling, as bodies were stacked up into hundred foot totem poles or someone played fileted tonsils like a concert cello.
