5. No solicitations, advertisements or spamming allowed. These will be promptly removed.
Clearly that rule doesn't apply to on-topic announcements and links in Jazz News, Gigs, 20xx Jazz Festivals, the Jazz on Sale thread, the Shameless Self-Promotion thread, etc. I assume that it likewise doesn't apply whenever members who are clearly not here for the purpose of spamming post links to their own or favorite websites, such as in their signatures.
Q. Does it apply to my current signature, an "ad" banner (which I made with my own hands, sort of) for The Hunger Site? Seriously, if y'all are in doubt, please check out the URL (there's no referral code or anything like that), the destination site, etc. Thanks.

TK means To Kome in publishing slang, and the comment has now kome. Please look at the post again.

You are correct with respect to statements in your 1st paragraph. That rule (#5) does
not apply in those instances.
No, it does
not apply with respect to your signature.
Remember, the operative words are "Enjoy the forum, and please let common sense be your guide when you visit and post".

Given your reply, it sounds as if rule #5 applies to "classic" spamming by "classic" spammers only.
If so, how many of them are going to arrive here, consult the House Rules, and be deterred by #5? None, of course, so I suggest that you eliminate rule #5, renumber the rules, and have one less rule.
If not, could you please point out other circumstances under which rule #5 would apply?

I mean, Ron took the initiative and put a lot of effort into it, I don't see a problem leaving it as is.
Rule #5 puzzled me and still does. It's not nitpicking to try to understand the rule or to ask how and whether it serves a useful purpose.
Don't forget, a lot of circumstances are covered by the blanket rule #4---4. Posts or other material which are deemed inappropriate by the site administrators/moderators will be deleted upon discovery.
Offering feedback doesn't negate Ron's hard, fine work one bit. I thought y'all welcomed feedback.

I have a few questions re: House Rules.
1. Is it okay to look in your medicine chest for birth control medicine if you're not at home?
2. Do you need the dog walked once or twice a day?
3. Can I use your computer? Do you have a password? Can I read your email?

Certainly not. Abstinence is the best form of birth control!
2. Do you need the dog walked once or twice a day?
No.
3. Can I use your computer? Do you have a password? Can I read your email?
Ask the NSA.

I would also rather have no rules, but due to the nature of the beast, they are necessary.
If a little redundancy is the worst thing we have in our newly published House Rules, I can live with that. And will, at least for the time being.

Thanks very much for that very kind comment, Randy.
"Great" is a pretty big word, and I'm not comfortable with it being used to describe me, but I certainly appreciate the gesture, my friend.

Unlike Ron I have no problem being referred to as "Great". As a matter of fact, I insist on it.

Okay, I hear that. But haven't you heard of "Games of Thornes?"
