Seamus Blake and Dave Kikoski are monsters. Seeing them live is a treat. And Bill Stewart knows his way around a kit for sure.
Ron, next time Tommy and I drop by Smalls I'll try to video bomb the live feed and give you a wave and a smile.

This has been an amazing year so far for Latin Jazz! So many really strong recordings. My latest 3 have been (and I'm listening to them a lot!):
Yosvany Terry - New Throned King - May be a little too 'ethnic' for most but it's a spectacular record! Another record along these hard-core 'ethnic' recordings that's been getting a ton of buzz is Michelle Rosewoman's New Yor-Uba - 30 Years, A Musical Celebration of Cuba In America, fantastic!
Paquito D'Rivera - Jazz Meets The Classics - Released today! Don't let the silly cover throw you, this latest live recording (Paquito has an extensive amount of live records, the best thing about them is that they're all different!) is one of his best. Through the years I've heard various 'Jazz meets Classical' projects and felt they've had varying degrees of success, this one's da shit!;) Even though Pacman likes to mix it up as far as his projects and sidemen go, his core band has remained the same for a very long time, they sound better than ever!
Alex Garcia's Afromantra - This Side of Mestizaje. This is the one that I'd unhesitatingly recommend to ANY Jazz fan. It's sure to be on most critics best of the year lists. This quartet's been together for over a decade and it sounds like it, their interplay borders on telepathic. Truly outstanding. It's a shame most listeners will tend to dismiss this, I'm tellin' ya, check it out! You'll be glad you did;)

That is just silly talk - I remember just moments ago, walking into His Master's Voice on Oxford Street (looking not entirely different to
and walking out with it. Cannot be more than 10 years ago - simply cannot.
Thank you.

What is Smith playing?
Over the past 10 years or so was playing drums, vibes and more recently saxophones.
