Big-Band Jazz

On Sunday, August 23rd from 5:00 until 8:00, Big Band Tradition will appear at the New Deal Cafe in Greenbelt, MD, just a short distance from the University of Maryland campus. No cover charge, tips appreciated. Reservations encouraged but not required.

The band will play material from several decades of big-band music including Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, Louis Bellson, and Charles Mingus. Vocals will include several pieces from the song book of Ella Fitzgerald.

My daughter is a freshman at Goucher College in Towson, MD, not far from Baltimore. Family Weekend is October 9-11. Would definitely consider ditching the family on the 9th, at least.
