Complete Riverside Monk 15-CD box reissue with new packaging

Postby bluenoter » May 1st, 2015, 3:00 pm

This Concord Music Group press release is apparently undated but was posted at the source I used on May 1, 2015.
(I gave "monk's" in the subhead a capital M.)

If the press release is accurate, the only news appears right at the top:

    1. On May 19, 2015, Concord Music Group will release a reissue of the 15-CD box Thelonious Monk: The Complete
    Riverside Recordings.

    2. The reissue will put the Complete Riverside Monk box back on the market.

    3. The reissue will have "sleek and compact" new packaging. That's all. No remastering, no new supplementary
material. (The same booklet---or at least one with the same contents, including the notes by Orrin Keepnews---
was in the original 15-CD box, released in 1986.)

The complete article: http://www.newyorker.com/culture/richard-brody/the-best-of-thelonious-monk

It discusses not the reissue but the original box—mainly the music therein and Monk's artistry. A rather
strange digression, IMO, was occasioned by a Wayne Shorter concert that the author attended.
