Re: Questions for Steve(thelil)

Do you live on the Upper West Side? If so, do you visit the local pet stores? Yes, I do live on the Upper West Side. But it isn't why I visit the local pet stores. It isn't even where I visit pet stores! Thanks for asking! Are you still playing the blues? I am both playing and singing the blues, bu...

Re: Questions for Steve(thelil)

Will you post one of them (say, within a week or so)? I just might! Thanks for asking! (Hint. Did you hear the one about the Muenster and the Munster. It's a thigh slapper!) (Hint #2. Facebook is always trying to interest me in Christian Singles. What are those, individually wrapped slices of Chris...

Re: Lew Soloff, R.I.P.

I was lucky enough to see him live on many occasions over the years. Not to be a jazz snob, but it always bothered me a little to see him identified as a BS&T member. I like BS&T, but that is such a small part of Lew's long and distinguished career.

Re: NBA Basketball

Sure isolation is great to watch when it works. It's just that spacing and ball movement by teams with great court awareness is more likely to get GOOD shots in the clutch and the teams that excel at that are more likely to be consistent enough to win it all. Who was the last team to with a title th...

It all depends on what else is in it.

And it also depends how long you want the hat to hold it for.

Re: NBA Basketball

Great Question, Uli (and Great observation, A Kingstone!) I don't know about the other Cavs. Even at their best this year they seem to be too much about isolation on offense and not enough ball movement and spacing. . Love IS playing a different role, but he is also clearly not as confident or accur...

Re: NBA Basketball

Wade and Bosh are very talented when healthy and strong - an off and on thing for Wade over the last few years. And yet, with the same team around them except for Deng - a fine player - in place of Lebron, they were not even a .500 team this year. Wade was once a guy who could make his team MUCH bet...

Re: NBA Basketball

Uli: I've always liked that you root for a bunch of teams. And I admire loyalty, although when it comes to basketball I look at it that I am more loyal to a style of play more than specific teams, so my loyalties change. ALTHOUGH, maybe if it wasn't so painful to be a Knicks supporter and/or they we...

Re: NBA Basketball

thelil, are you rooting for the Cavs now? ULI! it warms my jaded heart to talk hoops with you! Yep. I will always root for Lebron's team. That said, early in the season, well before he took his 2 week "get healthy" break I KNEW his back was bothering him AND that he had no explosiveness (...

Re: NBA Basketball

I lost interest in college hoops when the good players went pro after their freshman or sophomore years. I still remember that great Florida team where the players stayed until they graduated. That's a long time ago and hasn't been repeated since. There are plenty of teams that go far in the tourna...

Re: NBA Basketball

I remember when basketball was a good game. The NBA is a circus. Total bullshit. I'm guessing you stopped really watching years ago when it was characterized by no defense and selfish play and now you don't know the players so you have no interest. So you think of the NBA as the soap opera crap abo...

How many boners does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A: 14!

(I know this may not have been worth the wait, but just picture 14 boners screwing in a light bulb and I bet you have a nice guffaw)

Watched "Swing Time" last night and "Big" the other night. Both are superior to anything out today. Better than most? Sure. Superior to anything out today? Silly: Clint is one of those sages who is so wise that he has definitive and dismissive opinions on movies he hasn't seen.

Re: Beer — "all things malty and frothy"

I hear you, Jimbo. But trust me, if you had one of their TASTY brews like Turbodog Brown Ale or Jockamo IPA you wouldn't be using that term. So it's not me. It's them. And it's totally weird how good and how bad they can be. And you nailed it: Your term flaccid totally describes their main brew, Abi...

Re: Beer — "all things malty and frothy"

Abita to me represents the weird Jeckyl/Hyde that is New Orleans and alcohol. I've been lucky enough to spend a lot of time in NOLA. There is no place I've visited that is more about drinking. And it has a broad and interesting variety of cocktails. Some are very sweet and corny, to appeal to the du...

You are what you drink? Maybe you drink what you are? .... In either case I am enjoying Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale big time. I'm not experienced in Scotch Ales, but I'm guessing that it tastes like a delicious Scotch Ale should. And with 8 1/2 ABV it packs a punch, taste wise. .... .....The mouthfeel ...
