Just saw the Matisse cut outs at MoMA in NYC.
This cover (in Coda's previous post) was included in the exhibit.

Re: Any of you had your DNA tested ?

I've seen some episodes of PBS's Finding Your Roots hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr, which is all about DNA-based genealogy. I was thinking that getting a test could lead to some interesting information. Especially since I don't know a lot about my family history, particularly on my father's side.

Re: Jazz in the San Francisco Bay Area

I already have tix for the Dec 13 early show and this on Dec 10: 'A Love Supreme' Symposium Jazz author Ashley Kahn, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane and special guests will gather to discuss the development, impact and influence of Coltrane’s masterwork on the music world, the jazz scene in the Bay Area, ...

Thanks, Ron!

It's funny to look back on this years' predictions and see how few people gave the Giants a chance to go all the way, let alone in the post-season at ALL.

2016, anyone?

Re: Tim Hauser - Manhattan Transfer - R.I.P.

Interesting that they're going to continue their tour. They are scheduled to play at the newly re-named Yoshi's SF (now "The Addition") in about a month.

RIP Tim.

Re: Jazz in the San Francisco Bay Area

Yoshi's San Francisco has some jazz shows coming! (I know that somewhere it said that there would be no more jazz.... but you can't believe everything you read) Greg Osby 4 - October 16 Miguel Zenon - November 16 Volcan (Rubalcaba, Gola, El Negro, Giovanni Hidalgo) - November 28 - 30 Dee Dee Bridge...

I'm going.

I broke down and got a ticket for the Warfield here in SF. Not really THAT expensive after all, especially for what should be a VERY entertaining show.

Fripp plays favorites with a new King Crimson

Harrison is a monster, for sure. Deserves the lead drum 'chair' in that band.

Re: The Prog Thread

A friend who lives in the Boston area saw that show and was blown away. I'm considering seeing them here in SF, but I would have to buy tix through StubHub and they're pretty pricey. Having said that, it sounds like a great show and definitely something worth seeing. BTW, the 3rd drummer is Bill Rif...

Spectacular scenery, Ron. And what a special place for your son to live. Yes, the scenery all around us is pretty spectacular. We have to pinch ourselves sometimes. Brooks, Darren doesn't live at the cabin year-round, he actually lives in southern California with his wife and two children. He c...

Re: Computer questions (etc.)

I recently bought a new Dell laptop with a docking station and monitor. While the equipment itself is fine overall, the experience with Dell has been miserable. I will never buy from them again. Their tech and customer support is awful. Not the people specifically, but the process to get through to ...

That's interesting. Never heard of converting a digital camera to IR.
Should come up with some very unusual color schemes with that.

Re: Nixon by Nixon

You have to watch Colbert from 8/4. His guests are Pat Buchanan and John Dean, but the whole thing is 'filmed' like a 1970's Tom Snyder interview show - cigarettes, sideburns and all! VERY funny.

Re: Has Anyone Congratulated Our Peterdubya?

Not THAT sad about Yoshi's SF, actually. It never really seemed to hit its stride, and hasn't been a 'jazz venue' for a while. I would think that Peter would have mixed programming as well.

Congrats to Peterdubya, for sure!
