Downton Abbey since the beginning of the week.
Great cast, great story. I never tire of these English periodical dramas.

Re: Trivial Annoyances
Mike is right. Many cars still have cd players, but I should have precised that THE models I had views on (from the manufacturer I trust because I had a previous one from them which lasted 23 or so years without any problem) and that I can afford don't. Hence the disappointment. Now, if I have to go...

Re: Trivial Annoyances
The idea was also to avoid using digitized music (and I have no iPod... Still using portable cd players when on the move - I'm a dinosaur, I know) and continue to be able to choose a disc from the shelves right before leaving in the morning and put it in the car. Multi-disc player in the trunk might...

Re: Trivial Annoyances
Looking for a replacement to my 23-year old car, I just discovered that most recent vehicles don't have cd players anymore, not even as an option. Bluetooth is the new thing, but what if you don't use your phone to store and listen to music?

Re: What are you reading?
I've been mostly avoiding to read superhero comics these past years (eventual hype about so-called new takes on the genre has fallen flat so often in the past), but really enjoyed Bendis/Mack/Janson/Sienkiewicz' Daredevil: End of Days . http://multiversitycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/darede...

Meanwhile... Going through most of the first half of the 80s over the last couple of days. Am surprisingly well-disposed towards some albums from that period I sometimes skip during my annual Zappathon. Re: What are you reading?
Back to reading reissues of old 2000 A.D. comics after I finished reading Arthur C. Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey (great), 2010: Odyssey Two (good), 2061: Odyssey Three (so-so) a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have the nerve to try 3001: The Final Odyssey yet, as I fear Monte's definitive statement on...

"Dooooreeeeen!" Vocalists. The great strength of many tracks along the way. My first exposure to Zappa was Sheik Yerbouti . I was 11 I believe, on vacation in Germany with friends of my parents, and hated it. Still not among favorites, but I re-listened to it a year or maybe two later (li...

Sorry, Kelly.
Harder Than Your Husband is from You Are What You Is, right?
Shoudn't be too long before I reach it, though I had first thought of going back to the 60s after the 70s, but I'm so close to reaching the 80s, I don't know anymore.

J.J. Cale dead at 74
I've always listened to the man's music, not often, not compulsively, but on a regular basis as a kid or teenager and since. Didn't like the news a few hours ago. The communication mentions: "Donations are not needed; but he was a great lover of animals so, if you like, donations can be made to...
