Re: 75 pounds down ...
Didn't you have a Concept 2 rower at one time Rollie, or am I confusing you with someone else? That's a great aerobic workout that doesn't tax the joints (or feet) too much.

Re: Trivial Annoyances
Thanks Walto, it is quite nice in the summer. First day of spring and what do you know, more snow (15cm (6") forecast) http://nyc3img.soundclick.com/28/imgPages/7/4/4728517_752368.jpg?version=247 But I didn't come here just to bitch about the weather. I came to bitch about people putting "...

Re: 75 pounds down ...
I've been holding steady at 170 - 175lbs. This winter has been a bitch for working out since I've often been too tired from clearing snow to work out. Here's a picture from this past week of my backyard (March 15th and it looks like it would be more appropriate for January 15th). http://nyc3img.soun...

Same here!! There is a real sense of sportsmanship among the current crop of stars at the top of the men's game right now that is refreshing.

Re: Trivial Annoyances
It's a been a strange weather year here too. We had non-stop snow in December where I had the snowblower going almost every day, then we had extreme cold with temps at -30c (-22f) and windchills way below that followed by a warmup to double digit temps above zero. Now we're back to the relative cold...

Re: Nat Hentoff - Impeach Obama
Agreed 100%! Then again, I voted third party and most folks on JC chided me for "throwing away my vote". Yeah, that's what the old guard wants the attitude to be so they can play the "the other guy's worse and I'm the only alternative" game. At least we have somewhat decent elec...

Though I'd be one hundred percent in favor of arrest and trial at The Hague after he's left office. Only if GW is arrested as well would that make any sense. The whole system is corrupt and the only way that changes is if people start voting for anyone other than a Republican or Democrat. We're see...

Re: What Are You Listening To?
I love the breaking glass recording. Jason Moran is really kicking it this past few years. Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, especially when the first track started with spoken word, but I am really enjoying that one. I've added the Pablo Held to my next download list, I'll be curious to ha...

No, I don't know that one, actually I was referring to "sax on the web". I guess saxophonists haven't let go of the BBS format yet.

Re: And the site, she is dead.
I think this 'board' technology has become somewhat dated compared with the various social media sites that have proliferated in the past few years. Nothing WRONG with it, but I think a lot of people (myself included) have enough trouble keeping up with those. I don't know. I am a member of another...

Re: Let us deify Sonny Rollins
So, Claude... did Rollins change his mouthpiece after those Saxophone Colossus years? I like Rollins' tone much better than most sax players -- but my favorite, in terms of tone, has to be Ben Webster. And, as far as improvisation goes, nobody beats Rollins. As far as I know he switched from a Link...

As for the political faction, I personally make fun of them because they're a bunch of whiny dipshits. I couldn't care less what their name is associated with. They're a joke unto themselves. Yeah, I definitely don't need to use an insulting name to make fun of them. I kind of see the power that th...

Re: Let us deify Sonny Rollins
Strangely enough I just had Saxophone Colossus come up on random play and was just thinking the same thing.
I love his sound during this era when he was using a large chamber mouthpiece and playing with a lot of depth to his tone.

Re: Apple music player alternatives
What's funny is that before the iPod etc. made "shuffle mode" a possibility, it was never missed. Now it is a need. It isn't so much that it's a need. I always find it annoying when an "improvement" to software results in the loss of functionality that was there in the previous ...

Re: Apple music player alternatives
So much about Apple hardware/software is intuitive that one tends to take it for granted. I guess I haven't been fully assimilated yet since I find it to be anything but intuitive. In terms of being able to shuffle by album I mean that when I'm driving I like to just hit play and have my current iP...
