Ron Thorne — R.I.P.

Is no one left here? Still reeling from Ron's death. He worked so hard to get this JC alternative running and viable. He often asked me if I would share content I was posting on FB or other media to here, but it never engendered any action. Shame, but perhaps the appetite for a place like this just ...

Re: Sad News About JT Member ValerieB

Was honored to be among the mourners at Valerie Bishop's memorial service this morning. It was a beautiful send-off, fittingly with moving words and stirring music. Great to meet Marla Kleman as well as Valerie's family and friends. RIP.

Keith Emerson – R.I.P.

Adding insulting injury to so many injurious insults this year, the fates have taken from us another highly accomplished music legend. Keith Emerson was 71. Of all the classic 70s British prog bands, ELP was perhaps the most audacious, the most bombastic, and, because of those two things, the one I ...

http://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1593/24963685376_df095eb8bf_o.jpg   Sorry I missed seeing this lovely card til now. Also sorry I was not yet into Giant when this show took place. Alas, on their last tour in 1980, I was underage and so couldn't go to the club in Boston they appeared at. I didn't have...

Herbie & Wayne speak to young artists

This is an amazing letter from Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter to young artists, though I think everyone throughout all of humanity should read it and take these lessons to heart. http://nesthq.com/wayne-shorter-herbie-hancock-open-letter/ Wayne Shorter & Herbie Hancock Pen an Open Letter to th...

My daughter is a freshman at Goucher College in Towson, MD, not far from Baltimore. Family Weekend is October 9-11. Would definitely consider ditching the family on the 9th, at least.

Re: What Movies Are You Watching?

I have seen Love & Mercy, the Brian Wilson biopic, three times already. Yes, I'm a Brian nut but this is a very cool film, imaginative directed and edited with wonderful performances and best of all, it's highly accurate (not completely, but much better than average). Highly recommended. https:/...
