Re: Nat Hentoff - Impeach Obama
The Supreme Court right now is deciding if Obama exceeded his authority by making recess appointments when Congress considered itself in session. The court should be the first recourse in deciding if a branch has exceeded its authority, because impeachment always looks like (and usually is) partisan...

I kind of like walto's idea. Just PM him threateningly until he wets himself and pays for everything.

Re: And the site, she is dead.
If you (or Ron) can put in a donations doohickey, you might get an influx of coin from the NPR types who visit this site.

For the curious, what's an approximate breakdown of the costs associated with this site?

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1
Saving Mr Banks--some weak moments but mostly fun and interesting. Brought me back to my childhood. I watched that this afternoon. I liked it, probably because I like movies about movies. Having read Neil Gabler's Disney tome, I enjoyed the biographical aspects of this picture. Only thing I didn't ...

I have steady availability, nearly 'round the clock and 'round the calendar, and I know that I'd have no problem learning to perform most mod/admin tasks. I'm not much of a "people person," but even in that realm, I think I'd be adequate. Rita as moderator! Now that is a chucklesome notio...

Valhalla Rising is awful. I liked it the first time I saw it, when it had energy but no Vikings and was called Apocalypse Now. Even the sequel, Aguirre, Wrath of God had something going for it. But this? No.

Re: What TV shows are you watching?
I watched the Christmas special of Doctor Who last night and I can say good riddance to Matt Smith. The writing during his reign was not up to snuff and there was a lot of the feeling of "oh boy, aren't we having tremendous fun?" At least with the next Doctor, he's old. So he hasn't been b...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1
This is 40 was amusing in parts, never tremendously so. The one unalloyed good was the elder daughter's face, which was contorted into a mask of embarrassed outrage in every scene. The movie should have focused only on her and been called This is 14. As it stands, the film has no intellectual or mo...

Funny Games, (1997). Wow. There's a picture that gets you thinking. It seemed like an appalling and sadistic movie, but it was a movie about an appalling and sadistic movie. Four Montes.

Never meet your heroes! I'm in the middle of a Judge Dredd collection I got for Christmas, Dredd v the Fatties. Praise the Lard! In this future dystopia, there is rationing after the Apocalypse Wars. Despite food shortages, some bored citizens insist on competing in Heavyweight Eating Competitions. ...

That doesn't surprise me, Coda. Carmen heard one rational more than any other as she wondered about the rush to EPIC: "We're going to need this when Obamacare comes in." $$$

Re: The Affordable Care Act
Aside from the user unfriendliness, Epic also has caused a drop in patient volume because the thing wastes a lot of time. Trainers told the hospital that would happen too, so why they bought it I do not know. Someone in charge is making money somehow.

Re: The Affordable Care Act
The hospital she works at put in Epic a year or so ago. She says its one size fits all approach is bullshit and its authors know nothing about anesthesia. I cut her off there, as usually an hour long complaint would follow.
