Re: The Beer Thread
Hey, Jimmy. So glad you're here. And glad there's a beer thread. I scored some of this yesterday. Looking forward to it but after drinking for like 7 hours not sure it would be such a good idea for today. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTD-slG88zguz1gUsbiTl9eOmXwKhOmS_hSkbZmRd5...

I had some people over today for the 4th and one couple of from Poland. They brought some great Kielbasa from Philly that we did on the grill as a appetizer.
Also did dry-rub pork ribs on the grill that were outstanding.

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1
Eliza can't beat my girl, Abby: I've had lots of crushes during my streaming TV show serial watching. Re: Only in Alaska!
Ron, in the mid 90s I spent a few weeks on an oil rig in Cook Inlet. It was called Steelhead. I went back there for another 3 day (or so) stint and spent one day on land in the middle of the woods (there was just a small building in the middle of the woods for some reason) on the shore not too far a...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1
Thought I had replied to this before - ah the advantages of old age. I too stuck with it. I bought the Blu-ray discs and watched both series twice. I assumed I was missing something. Still left me cold ... perhaps worse. A fellow Whedon fan/friend offered to sit through it with me. Still didn't wor...

Hey, I admitted to mjb on another thread that I liked Dollhouse. What's worse, I checked Netflix and I gave it 5 stars. Holy shit. I blame rating under the influence.

Re: Favorite Standup Comics - Then and Now
For an older one...Scott posted this on Facebook a couple of years ago and I thought it was a piss. My wife didn't like it so much so I tortured the hell out of her and still do sometimes with "It's Magic" and "I'm fewlin' ya and ya don't like it". I thought this bit was genius. ...

When it comes to stand up, I can't even say it's hit or miss for me. Mostly miss. I've seen some Louis CK recently and he closed one show with this great bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkjmzEEQUlE Love his TV show too. I also like Ricky Gervais. Loved the once where he did the Noah's Ark routine.

I don't think I've heard a single positive review from anyone who has seen that movie, Lenny. All I know is that it didn't even look interesting in the preview. And I figure if you can't even make the trailer look interesting... The look and feel and slow-paced dialog reminded me of Terrence Malick...

The wife and I popped in The Master this weekend. We got maybe half way through when my wife decided that a night swim in the 85 degree pool was a better idea. She was right. The film lost her and she refused to finish and honestly I'm not sure I care enough myself. Bummer.

I saw Joss Whedon's "Much Ado About Nothing" last night. Very nice take on Shakespeare's classic. Looking forward to that. Heard him talk about this on Fresh Air. It took him two years to make The Avengers and after it was complete he was ready to take a family trip to Italy when his wife...

No problem, uli.
I've got it down and it only takes a couple of minutes so anyone that needs their avatar fixed just let me know. Paint makes it easy to crop and reduce the size of the image and the site I've been using to compress has been making the file at least 70% smaller.

2 games ago, the Phils handed the Dodgers their most lopsided loss since like 1947 or whatever. 16-1. Then, they turn around and lose the next game, of course. That's why I'm just unable to watch the Phils. Not long ago, they won 5 in a row and turned around and lost 5 in a row. I watched through a ...
