Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

I checked out The Wolf of Wall Street yesterday. It's good and perfectly watchable. I don't get the 4 star reviews, though. It's funny and all. I mean, I get it. They partied and nailed all kinds of hot chicks and did cocaine off of hookers' asses and did enormous amounts of ludes and other drugs. I...

I don't, Monte. Epic is killing us, though. We've lost an absurd amount of business to them over the past few years.

Why does she hate Epic?

Re: The Affordable Care Act

I hear you, Coda. I work in healthcare. We're one of the biggest healthcare software providers in the world. I'm working on a new product now that, hopefully, will help more successfully manage the way people need to be cared for over time. People are starting to think a lot more about preventive an...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

I'm pretty irritated that I can't find Inside Llewyn Davis anywhere around here. I've got lots of multiplexes and can see Thor in about 5 places and some Justin Bieber hunk of shit. Even Nebraska is showing somewhere, but no Inside Llewyn Davis. I think they were going to expand the release but have...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

The End didn't do much for me. I liked Pineapple Express WAY more. I saw American Hustle on Friday. A very fun movie. David O. Russell is not a subtle writer or director (for example: I cringe when I think of Melissa Leo's hammy performance in The Fighter and didn't care much for that film in genera...

I feel the same way but two good takes on it are Zombieland and Shaun Of The Dead.

Both great fun.

Bill Murray's cameo in Zombieland was brilliant.

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

The recent zombie fetish completely eludes my comprehension. It does surprise me that there seems to be an insatiable appetite for them. For me, it's kind of like when there seemed to be an endless supply of period pieces; I'll watch anything that's good. There's a film podcast I like and they seem...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

Saturday night, the wife went to bed early and I found myself with nothing to watch so I figured it was a good time to watch some entertaining zombie mayhem. Instead, I paid $6 to rent the hunk of shit known as Word War Z. If only I'd have taped $6 to a balloon and released it instead. Or taped it t...

I'm a Phils fan and it was sad to see him deteriorate so quickly. But he sure was a blast to watch and, since he apparently doesn't have a shot to get back to his old self, I'm glad he's hanging them up.

Brother I am not joking when I say I have to force quit iTunes almost daily. And I figured that was because the Windows version of iTunes particularly sucks. Thought Macs were probably immune. The last few times I shut it down the regular way it actually worked. Let's hope it's a trend. I've had mo...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

I saw Gravity in 3D at an Imax. I liked it. Based on the reviews I expected more but that's how it often works. This film might have been made to be seen in 3D and I might find, when I see it pop up on cable, that it's not the same without 3D but I'm just not sold on 3D as an artistic medium. They'r...

Amazing how the theme for a show you love can give you a Pavlov's dog-like reaction and get you excited and pumped. I remember The Saprano's theme doing that. The short theme for Peep Show works for me too.

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

The weird thing about "bad words' like "fuck" or "cunt" is that the masses just decide that a word is offensive for certain purposes in a rather arbitrary manner, and then once decided, that decision is treated by many as being of real importance. For instance, there are st...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

Funny stuff. I can kind of get where everyone is coming from when it comes to the use of the word. You can't just bury it and pretend it doesn't exist and I guess some think you can emasculate it by using it more but it still makes me cringe, especially back when Pulp Fiction came out and QT used it...
