Re: Digital Audio Players (DAPs) & Headphones
[This is jtx posting on behalf of Ron Thorne] cds.png Update on the CD rip project: SUCCESS! Well over 1,000 CDs were scanned in as FLAC files, with all the track details and album covers, leaving only around 20 CDs which were having issues being correctly read in. Was able to listen at will to any...

Re: Ira Gitler — R.I.P.
What a huge loss!
I remember seeing Ira Gitler's name on my issues of Downbeat magazine, for which I had a subscription. He was a larger than life character, taking care of the most important jazz publications in America in the 50s already.

Interesting possibility. I dig Goldblum, and Patti and I just enjoyed him on Stephen Colbert's show last week. He's quite hip.
Thanks, Michael.

Re: Anchorage Earthquake
* EARTHQUAKE *
Those of us in Anchorage are OK. Patti (my wife) and I survived the 1964 Quake, so we're veterans.
It was excruciatingly loud, vicious, aggressive, and strong.
We were saved by its brief duration

Re: Jazz Videos
I really enjoyed this new clip, Jazzooo. I did not like the snare drum tuning at all, however.
A bit repetitive in places, but strong, nonetheless. Nice.

Good catch. I see some high sticking now, Jazzooo. Even that technique is amazing!

Re: Jazz Videos
One handed technique? It's two-handed playing throughout, you just can't see the right hand very often. 1. I don't think a two-handed technique is provable, Jazzooo/Doug. 2. Looks like Tony is using a Moeller Method. 3. Note a lack of movement in the upper arm/body on Williams' right side. ...

Re: Digital Audio Players (DAPs) & Headphones
I've been diligently extracting (ripping) our CD library, and it's been going well.I've purchased the Easy Audio Copy software (EAC) after a free 14-day trial. It's a simple-to-use piece, ... sometimes extremely fast, sometimes slow. At this point, I've extracted...

Re: Digital Audio Players (DAPs) & Headphones
I just began a process which I've thought about for the past 10-15 years ... digitizing our music library. What a daunting task! I'm utilizing WD (Western Digital) My Passport as the storage device, their 512 GB version. I'm using Easy Audio Copy to rip the files. So far, so goo...

Aretha Franklin — R.I.P.
I was lucky enough to see Aretha when we were each teenagers, when she was part of the opening act for the Miles Davis Sextet in 1962. What else can I say?
