Re: Food For Thought
I was surprised to see Tony Gemignani roll out the pizza dough in that tutorial. As I said before, I'm not a fan of that method. I find that it causes the dough to tighten up and resist being stretched. But, he's an expert in pizza making so I'm sure he knows what he's doing. By the way, Gemignani's...

Re: Food For Thought
Ron, when you buy pizza dough from a pizza joint it's usually at room temperature and ready to use. If you decide to store it in the fridge, take it out and bring it back to room temp before using. If you buy the dough from the supermarket it will be refrigerated or frozen. As for forming the pizza ...

Re: Food For Thought
Ron, like Clint, I usually don't use a tomato sauce per se. My preference would be to use canned San Marzanos which are already cooked. I just use the mashed or blended tomatoes, not the juice (too watery). And...I use the tomatoes sparingly on a pie. More often than not, I prefer a white pie (pizz...

Actually, Clint, grits and polenta are basically identical. The only real difference being the type of corn used.

Looks delicious, Ron. Joanne and our granddaughters made a similar dessert for today's cookout. They're called Patriotic Pudding Parfaits, which are made with vanilla pudding, strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream. Enjoy your day!

Ron, if those photos were posted by anyone other than you, Brooks or Coda I would have suspected they were stock photos. But knowing your photographic talents and the qualty equipment you use to take photos I accepted that they were shots taken by you.

Re: Retirement
Which reminds me of the Moms Mabley joke:
Old man sitting on a park bench. Young boy comes walking by, crying. Old man asks the young boy why he's crying. Young boy says, "Because I can't do what the big boys do". Old man cried too.

Thanks to you and Justin for all your hard work running the joint, Ron. Know that there are a lot of people that lurk as opposed to participate. Just because they don't speak up doesn't mean they're not here.

Re: Cheap stuff that you like
Let's see, for instance, instead of buying Bombay Sapphire gin, which I can live with, I buy what I really prefer, Hendrick's. Hendrick's costs twice as much as Bombay but I buy it anyway. If I'm in the mood for lobster I don't hem and haw waiting for it to go on sale. I usually buy four, two for me...
