Jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove is seen in court on May 29
Grammy-winning jazz musician Roy Hargrove copped to cocaine possession Thursday in Manhattan Criminal Court in exchange for two days of community service.
The 44-year-old virtuoso trumpeter, who has recorded with musical greats Herbie Hancock and Wynton Marsalis, was busted buying four glassines of blow inside a car parked in the West Village April 5, according to criminal complaint.
Judge Neil Ross encouraged the famed musician to steer clear of trouble.
“I hope we can be confident about the fact we won’t see you in this building again,” he said to Hargrove, who looked dapper in a bowtie, navy jacket and crisp linen pants. “There are other places people want to see you and people who’ve wanted to see you for a very long time — just not here.”
