Nothing has ever compared with the March 27, 1964 earthquake we experienced, but we try not to let down our guard or take any of them lightly.
Darren will try to reach a neighbor by phone tonight for an update, if possible.

Earthquake!
We just talked with our two grandchildren in Anchorage, and they're fine but were shaken, literally and figuratively by this one, a strong, 6.2 shaker. I just read that a local news source said that the initial quake lasted 60 seconds. There was some structural damage in Anchorage but we don't know...

I plead guilty for sending you some of those suggestions, Jimmy. I saw some former JC members I thought you'd like to re-connect with. I agree that some of the FB auto-send stuff can be exasperating, though.
Re: MLB 2014
Last night's Dodgers/Giants game was a good one, minus the lame chest thumping after Puig was hit on the ankle by a pitch. You're no less of a man if you acknowledge that you made a mistake and hit a batter due to loss of control. Bumgarner should have made a simple gesture to Puig which would have ...

I'm listening to one of my all-time favorite jazz stations, KCSM, The Bay Area's Jazz Station , while watching the sun begin to settle in southern California. The quality of the light is wonderful. http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Purple4/v4/84/98/f2/8498f2ca-2fea-28ed-0f96-65a05fb49fe8/mzl.mx...

Uh, name and location of the family's favorite Italian haunt please. It's Topanga Pizza in Woodland Hills. It's a no-frills little restaurant, run by a wonderful gentleman named Oscar, who we've come to know over the past ten years or so. They catered Darren & Brenda's wedding, so there is a lo...

Very brief portions of this video are too artsy-fartsy for my taste, but it's a pretty handsome video overall. Oh, and the music is not my cuppa, either. That can be muted.

Patti & I have enjoyed some really good food since landing in southern California last week — from grilled Opah with capers to Pastrami on Corn Rye with Matzo Ball Soup, and homemade Chicken, Cheese & Chile Quesadillas. Today, at our grandson's 10th birthday party, probably Canneloni at...

Thanks so much for your remarks and the link, mjb. I was never fortunate enough to hear Kenny Wheeler in person, but have been an admirer of his recordings for 4 decades or so. Now, as the result of reading that Ottawa Citizen piece, there are other works I'm interested in checking out and prob...
