Re: Steve Swallow "Into the Woodwork"

Thanks for those comments on an album by a bassist I've always enjoyed. Steve is a distinctive musician, and one who always places results before popularity. From the samples I've heard, this is a fine quintet ... and recording. It's on my short list. http://tinyurl.com/m6tsh6g http://www.youtube.co...

Re: What Are You Listening To?

BeBop, my wife & I listened to KMHD on our recent visit to Portland. Great little station! We got hip to it when one of our sons was attending Pacific University a couple of decades ago.

Re: Which jazz musician do you listen to the most frequently

AHA! Yet another who has experience with the "no music spell". See there, Ron? ;) And for me, it mostly means I'm not listening to, or buying, anything new. And mostly only listening to music in the car during my relatively short commute. It's not a true moratorium, but as close as a musi...

Re: Which jazz musician do you listen to the most frequently

I don't ever remember having a "no music" spell ... ever.

Among those I listen to most frequently are Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Gary Burton, Jim Pepper, Charles Mingus and Wayne Shorter.

This lovely tree-lined street leads to the former Gay & Robinson sugar mill. We drive down it every time we visit Kauai. It's so nostalgic and peaceful. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3713/13228693673_79427c8ba2_c.jpg Kaumakani Avenue http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2828/13228695734_0fe924008a...

This is one of our very favorite beaches. It was also the 1st place where my feet touched the ocean. Sublime.

Re: Cameras & Photography

Thanks very much for the kind words, Rita. The lighting conditions here are remarkable in so many ways, and yesterday it was particularly interesting when we pulled into Hanalei. Massive clouds can provide great drama but also diffuse and alter light in magical ways. Yep, it was taken with my Olympu...

Henry, there is nothing much I can add to what Scott has stated. We're doing the best we can, warts and all. All reasonable suggestions are considered, but mistakes will be and have been made. We're mere mortals. From my perspective, portions of your initial post were quite judgmental and presumptuo...
