Re: ECM & Eicher Win Awards

Ugh And I bought a few They don't capture the sound of either Tim Berne's fine Snakeoil band or Michael Formanek's wonderful quartet. Both Ches Smith and Gerald Cleaver sound MUCH better live and on other labels I want to hear the full sound of the drum kit and ECM these days doesn't get it done St...

Someone told me Huntington Library is cool. The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens is a wonderful, gorgeous oasis, tippy! Patti and I visited there several years ago with our son, his wife and our grandson, and we spent hours touring the gardens and buildings. If you have time for an afternoo...

Yeah, I've thought abut SqD Steve many times too, but was hip to his burnout so didn't pursue it with gusto ... yet. ;) I'm with Sergio, hoping that he changes his mind.

I may give him a gentle nudge and see if I can shake him loose for at least a little dance around the new digs.

Different strokes, indeed. Scott LaFaro is on my short list of favorite bassists of all time. Marc Johnson is also on that list, though. A conversation with Marc where he didn't pay homage to LaFaro would really surprise me. Remember, Scott died at the age of 25. He was a kid. Tragic. http://image2....

I think it's already too late. I noticed the following prompt last week on the Wayback Machine , and have been unable to access anything today using previously workable methods. Caches have disappeared. I would love to learn about any successful retrieval method. Page cannot be crawled or displayed ...

Re: The Coffee & Tea Thread

Speaking of Seattle's Best, I could swear I read somewhere that McDonalds coffee is, in fact, Seattle's Best. Any way, when it comes to coffee I like the darker roasts. Maybe I've just been brainwashed by Juan Valdez but I prefer Colombian coffee. You are almost correct, Jimmy! When Starbucks bough...

Forgot about Peets...thanks, we LOVE Peets' French Roast, too! Didn't know that Starbucks did that. Do you mean they put smaller, "Mom and Pop" type coffee places out of business? Marla Starbucks has a reputation of being pretty ruthless in their business practices, Marla. I didn't like i...

I just finished watching the Hall of Fame induction ceremony from Cooperstown, and one inductee really stood out to me as a former catcher, James "Deacon" White. Among other notables, the fact that he was a bare-handed catcher really caught my attention. http://st.snimg.com/image/feed/logo...

For breakfast, Blueberry Greek yogurt and a stiff cup o' joe. This has become the favorite brand of Patti and me, and it's high in protein, something I need lots of due to my lung disease . Chobani is one of the least sweet commercial yogurts I've ever eaten. http://chobani.com/core/wp-content/uploa...

Even if money and the size of my waist didn't matter, you would never see me spring for a $68.00 steak. :silly:

Hell, I can get 10oz. of Alaskan King Crab and a fork-tender Petite (8oz.) Filet for about $50.00 ... the best of two worlds.

Patti & I were introduced to Bombay Gin by a former brother-in-law who was a bartender in Seattle at the time. We were vacationing in Seattle, and staying with him and Patti's older sister in their cool little apartment on Lake Washington. It was a sizzling hot day, so Ted said "hey, I'll m...

No problem. I mimicked the title of Walto's thread on Self-Promotion, thus the word "Shamelessly" in use.
