Happy Birthday, Josef Zawinul!

Man, do I miss this dynamic musician, who I first heard with Cannonball Adderley's Quintet. What an amazing man!

Joe would be 82 years of age today if he were alive. His music keeps him alive in our hearts, thankfully.

Re: Jazz in Boston

Scott Feiner is a remarkable musician, and one of the very few professional pandeiro players in the U.S. I bought my pandeiro from Scott several years ago and have since been watching and listening to his amazing achievements with this extraordinary instrument. I highly recommend trying to catch him...

Re: Enrico Pieranunzi

Here is a considerably earlier recording (1986) of Enrico and his trio. It's a good one.

Enrico Pieranunzi - piano
Enzo Pietropaoli - bass
Fabrizio Sferra - drums

Re: Enrico Pieranunzi

Thanks for starting this thread, David. I have to thank our friend Helge (Sand) for making me aware of this extraordinary pianist about 10 years ago. I've since collected a number of his recordings, mostly trio work, along with a few quartet outings. I've always been a huge fan of piano trios, espec...

The image went away on your last post so I added one back for you, Jimmy. That sounds very interesting. Here's what I enjoy from a local pub/pizzeria ... Moose's Tooth/Broken Tooth Brewery. They began offering 6-packs of two of their many micro brew offerings recently. Chugach refers to the mountain...
