Re: What's New?

Yes, it's wonderful that Steve has joined us here at JazzTalk. It's greatly appreciated.

Do you have a question for Steve, 7/4 or drumsolo?

Re: Does everyone like the look of the board better now?

Thanks, Valerie.

As Scott and others have said, it's "a work in progress", but we're pleased with the response thus far.

And, as you probably have noted, we've had wonderful assistance from Justin, who's made us look good.

From when television was hip, thanks to Steve Allen & Oscar Brown Jr. in this instance. As my old pal Dobie would have said, Coolio.

Re: Bill Evans

I've been enjoying the Sesjun radio shows set. There's a lot of great Evans. My favorite Evans bassist was Eddie Gomez and he duos with Bill on several of the cuts, also Toots joins the trio on a few cuts. Clint, thanks for that reference to the Sesjun radio shows. I wasn't hip to those until I saw...

Jimmy, we probably already discussed this, but how do you like Boodles and Bombay ? Bombay has been one of our favorite go-to gins for years. http://www.crutan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/1280.jpg http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/images/products/1274.jpg

Re: Recipes

After much trial and error several years ago, I came up with what I think is a very healthy, tasty Muesli recipe. Muesli ~ 2 cups rolled oats 1 cup rolled barley 1 cup rolled rye or millet ½ cup diced dried apples or pears ½ cup golden raisins* ½ cup turbinado (raw) sugar ½ cup wheat or barl...

Re: How often do you eat (breakfast) cereal?

I used to eat cold cereal fairly regularly, but have been eating Greek Yogurt or an Oatmeal Breakfast Bar, instead. My favorite cold cereals are Raisin Bran , Granola (especially with vanilla, & pecans or walnuts in the mix) and Muesli . We used to take Muesli camping with us when our children w...

Coffee & Tea

What are your choices for coffee and/or tea? Brewing methods & equipment? I like to grind my own coffee beans with a relatively inexpensive Capresso burr grinder. I use either my trusty 9-cup Bialetti Moka stovetop coffee maker or my Bodum French Press. When I'm making coffee only for me, it's u...

Re: Bill Evans

Listening to Bill Evans daily is not a bad practice, indeed. Man, I just found a video I've never seen before. It's a rare interview plus performance from Evans and his 1970 trio, featuring a very young Eddie Gomez. It was filmed in a private home in Finland. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc...

Re: Summer Vacations

I love Peet's coffee. I first experienced it in Portland, Oregon years ago. We can get Peet's at our supermarkets, but Starbuck's has a stranglehold on the regional coffee shops in Anchorage. I refuse to patronize them if I have other good choices, and we do ... three local roasters who do a great j...

Re: Good Music and the Other Kind

It should also be mentioned that in the famed quote "There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind, " Duke was suggesting that there is good and bad music in all musical genres, not that some genres are good and some bad. Similarly he was saying one shouldn't judge music by...

"Ignore" Feature

There is no Ignore feature on this board, per se, but there is a feature which is essentially the same ... Friends or Foes . I had forgotten about this until this afternoon, when another poster mentioned it to me. It's in our FAQ page, but there's a direct, clickable link below. Friends or Fo...

Just how does someone delete one of their posts? You should be able to see a Delete post area above the word Subject (upper left in windown) when you click on the Edit button on your post. There is a small box which can be checked. Check that box then click on Submit . It will ask you for permissio...

Re: Jazz Corner Posters MIA

Some simple guidelines:

Please think before you post.

Since we have no ignore buttons on our new board, use your brain as an "ignore button".

Send a poster a PM, if necessary, to let them know how you feel, rather than get into a back-and-forth spat on a thread.

Thanks.
