Re: Food For Thought
When I inquired about the other ingredients our server said they don't offer them because they are trying to stay "mainstream". I took that to mean catering to the caucasians. Not even bo vien? That's just sad. I've noticed that the patrons of our local go-to pho joint (Pho Ha in Pomona, ...

Re: Rare Color Pic of a Nazi Rally
Here is a link to an explanation of the symbol known as a swastika. Click below. The swastika sign (卐) – a symbol of Buddhism or Nazism? I'm aware of the different uses of the symbol, but even that article states that the Nazi swastika is at an angle: The Nazi used the right facing form and tilted ...

A little OT, but I'm pretty certain my own first record was the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and/or a Topo Gigio album. Both on 8-track.

Re: What TV shows are you watching?
I've been watching Sons of Anarchy on Netflix, which only has seasons 1 through 4. I enjoyed it. I mean, it's no Breaking Bad or anything, but for the most part it works as a violent, fast paced, male fantasy sort of thing. Some very good performances from Ron Perlman and Katy Sagal, among others. B...

As for the other thing, Scott locking the thread tells me he wants to put it behind, so I'll be brief. I like BT and appreciate many of his contributions. I like thelil too. Both can be grating at times, but that's the way people are. It's too bad BT decided to split, but that's done. Having lived t...

Boring legal asides aside, keeping private messages private is not a matter of law but of courtesy, which is something you can extend even to those persons you don't have a positive relationship with. This. This is common sense stuff. It's the way civil discussion forums have always worked. No one ...

I generally think of electric instruments as completely different entities from their acoustic counterparts, and not substitutes or replacements. I understand the practical considerations for using an electric over acoustic piano, but in general they are their own instruments and some talented music...

But, was I the only one who thought Hank knew well before this? No. I've heard others express exasperation at Hank before, but I just can't buy this. I just don't think it would be reasonable to come to that conclusion before the solid evidence. Beyond reason, there's also a matter of his image of ...

My memory is hazy, but I recall my dad had Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits and something by Jim Croce. On 8-track. He had a lot of other stuff - mostly but definitely not exclusively Mexican music - but those two I remember clearly.

Re: I actually believed..........for way too long.
There are a lot of little English-as-a-second language errors I made well into adulthood. Until my 30s, I would say 'the theater is passing a movie', meaning it is showing or playing a movie. This is due to literal Spanish-to-English translation I made. I was surprised that error was not corrected f...
