Alan Dawson and his star pupil Tony Williams. Now, you're tugging on heart strings, as I'm sure you know, Jason. Damn. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DcZ5rOwOU88/T1QrSSl5HvI/AAAAAAAAB5k/coq8UJMs1aE/s400/1.jpg http://s3.amazonaws.com/drumlessonscom/00-drummers/tony-williams-thumb.jpg

If so, I love that stuff.

Absolutely, jaka!

I love her work, and was proud to be a part of her latest effort with Dawn Upshaw, Winter Morning Walks on ArtistShare. Wow!

Re: Cameras & Photography

My wife & I saw this cool little cat each time we visited one of our favorite beaches on Kaua'i last December. I managed to capture this shot when he was sitting on a lava rock wall. I made a sound to grab his/her attention, after pre-focusing. I think it's a female. http://farm9.staticflickr.co...

Only in Alaska!

Turnagain Arm begins about :15mins. south of Anchorage, and is part of Cook Inlet, which is part of the Pacific Ocean. It's called Turnagain Arm because when Capt. James Cook sailed into Cook Inlet, then that arm of the inlet, he was forced to "turn again". He was looking for the Northwest...

How about choosing another User Name so that we can actually respond to something other than one using Canadian Unicode?

Thanks.

Re: Who Wants to Talk about PIE?

Man, the 1st thing I thought about when I saw this thread title was my old pal, Dobie aka Singin Sumo. He loved to talk about pie and soup, and ... Sometimes when we'd talk by phone, Dobie would say "c'mon over and we'll have some soup 'n' pie ... soup 'n' pie, Fadda." I love pie, and this...

That is still quite nice. 1998-2003 were vintage years at Jazz Corner: Reynolds, DEEP, Nags, Brooksie, Conan, etc. I hope that it doesn't disappear. It would be nice to save it. Welcome, John. Re: Big Bands

I would agree with your sentiments on that group of stellar big bands, Clint. I've heard them all, but only one of them in person, the Mingus Big Band, which is a killer! My good friend Danny Gottlieb used to sub for Mel Lewis in that band, when Mel was sick or had other commitments. In fact, Danny ...

You summed up the feelings of many of us, Scott. Thanks.

I also sent Lois a personal note tonight, but via e-mail rather than a PM.

Lois and I go back a long, long way, and I wish her nothing but the best in the future, as well.
