RIP Charlie Haden. Don't know why but I'm thinking; is there any Jazz enthusiast that doesn't own at least 1 record with Charlie on it? I also wasn't aware of his age, guess I always thought of him as a younger man. The warmth & tone quality that came out of his bass was always remarkable to me...

The drummer/percussionist Matt Wilson, who has been so generous with me any time he was asked to do something related to a radio request. Truly a humble person with so much talent and a HUGE sense of humor. He's suffering right now. His wife passed away last week after a 4 year battle with leukemia...

In son JC's band there a bunch of nice guys and Claire Daly, Warren Smith and Julian Prestley stand out. Other nice guys I have known that immediately come to mind are Tommy Newsom. Phantom Ross Tompkins, Joe LaBarbara and Bob Cooper. LDB was usually pretty nice to me. Claire is a wonderful person....

One that I sorely would have loved to have seen.

Coltrane was gone a couple of years before before I started taking in live shows.
