It may be that if you type in the name of the font you want, it will appear.

+No thanks, Dr. Dave ... I'm quite content with my assessments.

Here is a picture of the event audience. I suspect the culprits will jump out to anyone with nous.

Re: I Hate People

Four people behind us at a film last evening each talking, at a quite unnecessary volume and at a pitch to annoy Fran Drescher, and without listening to each other, about all of the films they had seen at TIFF this year. "Oh his use of music was clearly an attempt to convince the audience of sh...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

Just back from a TIFF showing of A Field in England. Director Ben Wheatley was there for a Q&A ... seems like a first rate bloke. I enjoyed Down Terrace and Kill List and will now hunt down Sightseers. http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8688624.ece/ALTERNATES/w460/40-fieldinengland.jpg

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

Season 1 of The Newsroom left me enervated even though I found myself agreeing with every sentiment. I still watch it, but I'm not totally into it. Daniels, Mortimer are fine and Waterston is always a pleasure, but Sorkin's dialogue requires a certain level of commitment that most of the young acto...

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

Indeed, I have a memory of enjoying it at first and then losing interest. I'm about 6 episodes in and the Matthew Perry / Sarah Pauslon relationship is starting to grate. I'm guessing Aaron Sorkin has relationship issues as that pairing seems to echo that of Jeff Daniels / Emily Mortimer in The News...

Re: I Hate People

I wanted to lean back because I wanted to sleep -- which Delta allows me to. On the way to my destination, I had the unfortunate pleasure of sitting next to a guy who must have been pushing 350 pounds. But did you put the seat ALL THE WAY BACK? That is unforgivable, even if allowed! It completely r...

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip on DVD (obviously)

I'm enjoying it very much but I keep thinking "man, BlackBerries have got way better looking."

As it is an Aaron Sorkin show the writing is first rate. The chemistry in the players is great to watch.

Luckily, I rarely come in contact with those I would consider assholes except for a couple of politicians I know. Most of us here, IMHO, are anything but assholes, maybe pricks sometime. Hey! Unruly cretin, sure. Miserable curmudgeon, okay. Asshole, I don't think so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

We saw 20 Feet From Stardom http://subtitlebox.org/pictures/23/23/152323.jpg Essentially a very good / fun / melancholy documentary about backup singers in pop and rock. A lot of very good music. Most telling line, for me, was from Mick Jagger: “Singing ‘oohs and aahs’, it’s kind of fun for a minute...

I haven't seen someone wearing full headphones in at least a decade. We have them on most bus shelters. It keeps the tourists (Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ballspond) distracted from the fact that there is nothing to see or do. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xspv-pz7PrE/UAoF4mxnQYI/AAAAAAAAWbU/xakX6CuKGTE/s1600...

Re: I Hate People

And 'connectivity assholes' on bicycles? Toronto drivers can barely deal with other drivers. Pedestrians are a mystery to them (Though the ones that stop in the middle of the intersection to spell check a text message are fair game). Cyclists take huge risks just being on the road riding against dow...

Wholly jumping Jimmy ... I am about the same age, have a similarly tempered wife and have the same jaundiced view of humanity. Toronto has more that its fair share of really bad, dumb, inconsiderate drivers. I rant and my good lady wife (whose name escapes me for the moment © Peter Cook) will say &q...

Dave Holland - Prism (streaming courtesy of the CBC) http://music.cbc.ca/blogs/2013/8/First-Play-Dave-Holland-Prism

Difficult to grasp that I first heard Dave in 1966 or so at the Little Theatre Club as part of the Spontanous Music Ensemble.
